Um wenigstens innerhalb gewisser Grenzen Austauschbarkeit der einzelnen Elemente untereinander zu erzielen, hat man zu dem Mittel gegriffen, sehr große Mengen auf einmal zu schmelzen und so den Bedarf für längere Zeit zu decken.Heat meter, consisting of two interconnected thermocouples. Man erkennt sofort, daß man dadurch eine wesentliche Vereinfachung herbeiführen kann, daß man an Stelle der vier Schenkel nur drei verwendet (s. Abb. a). Weiter kann man den in Abb. a noch außenliegend gezeichneten Widerstand dadurch ersparen, daß man den Schenkel (in der Abbildung beispielsweise den mittleren) von solchen Dimensionen wählt, daß dieser Schenkel an sich schon den notwendigen Widerstand erreicht. Bei einer solchen Ausführung übernimmt dann der dritte Schenkel die Rolle eines Korrekturschenkels.
