Die auf der Zeichnung dargestellte Vorrichtung ist in der Hauptsache eine Umkehrung der unter P. R. No. 37772 geschützten Vorrichtung, durch welche jedoch der wichtige Vortheil gegenüber der älteren Construction erzielt wird, dafs sofort bei Beginn der Arbeit der Maschine der Zeichengeber functionirt, während bei der älteren Construction diese Wirkung erst nach einiger Zeit eintrat. Es pflanzt sich nämlich bei der letzteren der Druck des Dampfes zunächst nur durch die Luft oder den Dampf fort, welche bezw. welcher sich in den zum Zeigerapparat führenden Röhren befindet, und erst dann, wenn diese Röhren zum gröfsten Theil mit Condensationswasser gefüllt sind, beginnt der Zeiger zu functioniren. Da nun aber das in den Zuleitungsröhren angesammelte Condensationswasser bei jedem Richtungswechsel aus dem vom Dampfdruck unbeeinflufsten Rohr ablief, so gehorchte der Zeiger bei dem älteren Apparat auch erst nach einiger Zeit dem Dampfdruck.
