The purpose of this innovation is to divide existing and new malt kilns on each floor into several To divide the kiln chambers in such a way that the kiln air alternates in one chamber from above strokes downwards and in the following from below upwards and so on, namely from the driest to the greenest malt, while this in the opposite sense progresses.

The calorifers are located in the air-heating room a, where the air is strongly heated and led to the shelves on the first floor, while the air in the adjoining room m, which is heated by the serpentine tubes dd less heated by the exhaust gases, is discharged to the second floor.

The layer of malt on the racks is alternately from above and below from of the kiln air, which is achieved by the fact that the kiln space is separated by partitions corresponding individual chambers is divided.

In a malt kiln with two floors, FIGS. 1 to 3, the first floor is divided into three and the second floor into four chambers by means of suitable walls. . The individual chambers are completely separated from each other by the partition walls βγβ'γ'δ ' , while the sheet metal walls α α' are only low and serve to transfer the air through them into the following chamber.

Above the shelves hh there is a sheet metal ceiling g 'g' and above it there are the shelves h 'h' on the second floor. A similar sheet metal ceiling gg is also attached under the shelves hh on the first floor, and only under the chambers 5 and 6.

The Darrgut is poured into the chamber 1, successively brought into the chambers 2, 3, 4 to 7 and collected in this last chamber at k.

A similar device is shown in FIGS. 7 to 9 for a malt kiln with one tier.

The air heating space a and the kiln space are separated into two halves by the central wall ε η. In one half, where the heating chamber b is arranged, the cold air flowing in from the outside is warmed up much more than in the other half, where the combustion gases escaping through the tube dd have already cooled.

The air heating room is again separated from the kiln by a sheet metal ceiling gg , which lies under the shelf hh and is provided with openings O and O ₁ .

The kiln is divided into six chambers by the wall ε η, the low walls α α ' and full sheet metal walls.β γ. The air heated in half under the chambers 4, 5, 6 of the air heating room goes through the opening ο and the rack hh into the chamber 6, crosses the wall α, goes into the chamber 5 from top to bottom and into the chamber 4 'from the bottom up and from there into the channel /. Likewise, the heated air located in the second half of the air heating space under the chambers _{1, 2, 3 goes through the opening O 1} and the tray into the chamber 1, from there into the chamber 2 from top to bottom and into the chamber 3 from below up and escapes from there back into Canal I.

In the calorifer half located by the chimney, the air supply can be placed on the chimney side and the air heated here can flow out into chamber 3, where it sweeps through the malt layer from bottom to top. From here the air goes to 2 (whereby the wall β must be replaced by a low wall), passes through the malt layer in 2 from top to bottom and passes under the floor of chamber 1 (which must be separated from 2 by a solid wall) where it sweeps through the green malt layer from bottom to top and is fed into the canal. The green malt is poured into chamber 1 and from there brought into chambers 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 and collected there. So that the malt can be easily and conveniently brought from one chamber to the other, the walls are provided with hinged doors ρ ρ .

A simpler kiln in which the warm air also blows the hordes from below up and the other time from top to bottom and the Darrgut successive advancing into warmer air is shown in Figs.

The kiln is divided into five chambers * by the full wooden walls φ and μ and by the low walls α α '. In addition to the five chambers, there is again a sheet metal ceiling under the hordes of the remaining chambers .

The heated air rises through the horde in the fifth chamber, exceeds the Walls α and goes into the fourth chamber from top to bottom, from there into the third Chamber from bottom to top, into the second chamber from top to bottom and finally in the first chamber from the bottom up and from there into the channel /.

The malt is poured into the first chamber and from there it progresses into chambers 2, 3, 4 and 5. How, in a continuous malt kiln, the heated air passes through the hordes alternately from above and below, is shown in FIG. 6. The hordes hh form an endless belt which is guided over two drums T (only one is shown in the drawing). The malt is poured out at q and gradually advances to the other drum, turning it clockwise; s are solid sheet metal walls which take up the whole width of the building and form individual chambers, while the walls u are only low; r are mounted in the side wall openings, through which flows in the warm air and escapes through the openings \ Z in the channels. The malt kilns described above allow the complete set-up with a simple set-up Utilization of the heat and deliver an excellent D.arrgut.
