Description
Joint for Artificial Legs, etc. In the case of the joints of artificial legs was previously the thigh sleeve with the lower leg sleeve or this with the Foot hinge-connected by means of a straight bolt, so that the rotation went about a straight axis. In exactly the same way, the Herste.1Q # ting of artificial arms.
However, this rotary movement does not correspond to the anatomical structure of the human skeleton. Because here the bone has a lateral extension, the joint head, because the second bone is attached to the movement of a limb or of the two articulated links.
In order to achieve a corresponding movement of articulated joints in artificial limbs connected parts and also to achieve greater stability with artificial legs, is according to the invention of the common connection of the articulated with each other connected parts apart by means of a straight axis and a connecting piece for it arranged in the artificial limb, which is rotatable in both parts of the artificial limb is mounted in such a way that it acts as a link for them. To make this possible, we take action one part with a pin or the like in a slot on the other part attached rail with which the handlebar is articulated outside the axis of the slot connected is. The second pivot point for the handlebar is in a vertical straight line, .that goes through the pin engaging in the slot. Examples are in the Drawing in Fig. I a knee joint of an artificial leg and in Fig. Z an ankle joint an artificial foot shown schematically in view. The knee joint (Fig. i) has a thigh sleeve a and a lower leg sleeve b. On the sleeve b a rail c is attached, which has a slot d. Reaches into this slot insert the thigh sleeve with a pin e.
A second pin f of the thigh sleeve holds the angular Part g, which serves as a link and is attached to the rail c by means of a pin h is.
The ankle joint (Fig. 2) is designed in exactly the same way.
