Abstract

Battery-hen cage with adjustable perch for accommodating hens in a manner which is better for the species and for separating sick hens and dead hens. The hen cage has a loose, installed ceiling which can be moved approximately 10 cm upwards or downwards. The perch is raised up during the day, in a longitudinal slot through a plurality of cages, by means of a wire cable pull. During the night, the perch is lowered. Raising and lowering is necessary because the cage interior would be too narrow during the day and defecation and cannibalism would result.
