Abstract

The prepn. of a microbicide effective against microbes which attack the lungs follows the equilibria for the reactions between calcium hypochlorite and water to give Ca2+, OH- and HOCl. The hypochlorous acid formed reacts further with RH to give ROH, HCl, H2O and RCl. The microbicide can also be used against osteomyelitis, acute suppurations of wounds and anaerobic infections, as well as against lung infections, esp. those caused by antibiotic resistant bacteria, or allergic reactions. The extremely low cost of the process allows the microbicide to be used in mass infections sic as an antimicrobic prophylactic e.g. in radiation sickness (sic).
