Multi-layer doormat.

The invention proposes a "multi-layer doormat" which is intended to absorb dirt at the place of use as a dirt trap, doormat, rug or underlay in order to be able to remove it in an appropriate manner and to protect the place thus protected from coarse soiling.

Such floor mats can be used in a variety of ways in cars and airplanes, in entrances, in public buildings with high visitor traffic, doctor's offices, shops and also in private homes.

Known prior art according to US 4,107,811 is a floor mat with removable layers, which have a special adhesive on the top, which absorbs dirt and can be removed once there is no more dirt to absorb. The disadvantage of this solution is that it is not possible to clean the respective layer because the dirt adheres firmly to the adhesive. In addition, this adhesive layer cannot absorb wet dirt. As a result, the upper layer must be removed relatively quickly and thus uneconomically. DE 37119424 proposes a carpet covering in which an abrasion protection part is firmly embedded in a polyamide base plate and is therefore not removable. The disadvantage here is that if this abrasion protection part becomes heavily soiled, the entire mat must be replaced. DE 3316191 also proposes a floor mat for motor vehicles in which the side edges of the mat enclose the higher parts of the vehicle, such as cross members and door sills. This solution cannot eliminate the disadvantages listed either.

All of the solutions known to date have the disadvantage that these mats become unsightly after a relatively short time, despite cleaning, and certain stubborn stains remain despite vacuuming, shaking, tapping or even washing. However, since these doormats are often located directly at the entrance and therefore in the immediate field of vision of the place to be protected, an unpleasant first impression of the place to be entered is created.

This disadvantage is perceived as particularly unpleasant in private areas, such as in front of apartment doors, in car interiors, and on rugs in the bathroom or bedroom.

The aim of the invention is to eliminate these disadvantages by allowing the proposed "multi-layer doormat" to undergo several "regenerations".

This aim is achieved, as stated in claim 1, by the fact that individual (approx. 5 to 7) removable "dirt trap layers" are located in the base body of the doormat, which are then removed when even intensive cleaning no longer brings the desired result.

The advantage of this proposed invention is that over a very long period of time this "multi-layer doormat" receives a visual "renewal" several times and thus always gives a neat and well-maintained impression at the place of use.

An advantageous embodiment of the invention, as stated in the claim, is an insulation of the individual layers from those underneath in order to maintain their condition for the desired "renewal". This is achieved by providing the underside of each layer with a sealing plastic film and providing sufficient insulation against water, snow, dirt and odors.

A further advantageous embodiment of the invention according to claim 3 is achieved in that the individual layers are held in a practical manner at their edges in such a way that they are sufficiently fastened, but are also designed to be easy and convenient to remove or detach.

The base body of the mat (1) with knobs (2) which prevent slipping, the individual layers (3) and the clamping edge (4) with a spring steel insert (5) (as enlarged) as a holding element for the layers.

A cross-section through the base mat (1) with the individually removable layers (2) which are firmly attached to the plastic frame (3) with the adhesive surface (4). The removal takes place by pulling the upper frame away from the adhesive surface underneath. The frame is thin, light and flexible, preferably made of polyethylene.

The following explanation based on Fig. 3 explains:

The individual layers (4) stored in the stable base frame (1) are connected by Velcro strips (2) in such a way that each layer is surrounded by a Velcro strip and the next layer by a velour strip (3) in such a way that sufficient lateral support of the individual layers in the base frame is ensured.

The individual layers (3) are housed in the mat base frame (1) in such a way that the layers are applied to a thin, flexible frame (2) with a lower raised area all around. This lower raised area is also designed as a holding adhesive point (4), thus enabling the individual layers to be removed without any problem.

A further advantageous embodiment is explained with reference to Fig. 5 and shows:

Claims (3)

1. Multi-layered doormat, consisting of suitable material, characterized in that several removable individual layers (e.g. made of velour or foam) are incorporated into the base of this mat. These layers can be cleaned and removed individually if they are too dirty. 2. Multi-layer doormat according to claim 1, characterized in that the upper layer sufficiently insulates the underlying layers against water, dirt and odor. 3. Multi-layered doormat according to claim 1 and 2, characterized in that a suitable lateral edge releasably connects the individual layers to one another and these layers do not slip among one another.
