Als Profil-Material wird vorzugsweise ein elastischer Werkstoff, wie ein thermoplastisches Elastomer (TPE), verwendet; aufgrund der flexiblen Eigenschaften können dadurch beispielsweise auch Radien oder Kurven verlegt werden. Auch ist TPE ein sehr verschleißfester Werkstoff, was sich positiv auf die Abriebsfestigkeit des An- und Abschlußprofiles auswirkt. Ferner läßt sich das An- und Abschlußprofil, sofern es die Werkstoffhärte erlaubt, für den Transport platzsparend aufwickeln und anschließend für die Montage abgewickelt, wodurch lange Abschnitte an An- und Abschlußprofil einstückig, fugenlos verlegbar sind.
