Die Erfindung betrifft einen Dampfkessel, der aus einem oberen Wasser- und Dampfsammler, einem unteren Kessel mit stehenden Heizröhren und einer zwischenliegenden Rauchkammer besteht, durch welche hindurch ein Rücklaufrohr aus dem Wasser- und Dampfsammler in den Unterkessel führt. Bisher bekannte Kessel dieser Art ermangeln einer Einrichtung zur Bewirkung eines Wasserumlaufs und weisen infolgedessen nur eine geringe Verdampfung auf. Dieser Nachteil soll beim Gegenstand der Erfindung dadurch behoben werden, daß das Rücklaufrohr bis nahe zum Boden des Unterkesseis hinabgeführt und dessen oberer Raum mit dem unteren Raum des Wasser- und Dampfsammlers durch Rohrleitungen verbunden ist. Gemäß der Erfindung ist das Rücklaufrohr 6 bis nahe zum Boden des Unterkessels hinabgeführt, und die Rohre 10 verbinden den oberen Raum des Unterkessels 1 mit dem unteren Raum des Wasser- und Dampfsammlers 2, so daß der Wasserumlauf durch diese Rohre 10 aus dem Unterkessel 1 nach dem Oberkessel 2 und zurück durch das Rohr 6 erfolgt.
