Bei den bisher bekannt gewordenen Pfeifericonstructionen gelangte der aus der Spitze C kommende Speichel an den inneren Wänden des Oberknopfes A, welcher nach unten weiter gebohrt wurde, direct auf das obere Ende des Schlauches D (Biegers), wodurch der Eisendraht sehr schnell rostete, das Leder erweichte, in Fäulnifs überging und so den jedem Raucher bekannten üblen Geruch und Geschmack erzeugte.
