Die bisher durchweg übliche Construction der Sattelbäume macht in den seltensten Fällen einen Sattel für mehrere Pferde zugleich auch nur in etwas passend, da die Wölbung der Pferderücken eine zu verschiedene ist. Man hilft sich in diesem Falle in der Regel durch Unterlegen von Filzdecken, die einestheils sehr lästig sind, anderentheils den Sattel rasch ruiniren.The construction of the saddle trees, which has been common up to now, only rarely does a saddle for several horses at the same time also only fits in something, because the curvature of the Horseback is too different. Auf beiliegender Zeichnung veranschaulichen Fig. 1 und 2 einen Sattelbaum meines verbesserten Systems zu einem Damensattel in Perspectiv- und Vorderansicht, Fig. 3 zeigt einen theilweise bepolsterten, mit untergelegtem Sattelkissen versehenen Sattelbaum unter Weglassung des Sitzes und der Satteltaschen. Die von der neuen abweichende Form der alten Sattelbäume ist in Fig. 1 und 2 durch Punktirung angedeutet. Wie aus diesen Figuren hervorgeht, sind an dem Sattelbaum A an Stelle des schmalen und langen Orts rechts und links kürzere, dafür aber um so breitere Ortblätter B und C angeordnet, die eine etwas nach aufsen geschweifte Form, Fig. 2, haben. Aus dieser Figur ist leicht zu ersehen, dafs bei solcher Einrichtung der tiefer liegende Rückentheil des Pferdes mit der Auflage des Sattels gar nichts mehr zu thun hat. Die Thiere können deshalb ziemlich verschiedene Rückenprofile haben, stets wird ein mit derartigem Sattelbaum versehener Sattel richtig fallen und sich passend anlegen. Aus der Betrachtung der punktirten Umrisse, Fig. 2, ist dagegen ohne Weiteres einzusehen, dafs die bis jetzt üblichen schienenartigen Orte nur für Thiere ganz bestimmter Bauart passend sein können, dafs namentlich aber für Thiere, welche am unteren Theil des Rückens ungewöhnlich stark sind, eine ganz besondere Rücksicht auf den Abstand der unteren Ortenden zu nehmen ist, wenn anders der Sattel richtig fallen und dem Thier und Reiter keine Unbequemlichkeit erwachsen soll. Bei der Anfertigung von Damensätteln kommt es aber auf letzteren Punkt hauptsächlich an, denn der rechte Schenkel der Reiterin würde beim Reiten anderenfalls in eine unbequeme Lage gerathen. Damit sich der Reiter jederzeit auf höchst einfache Weise den Sattel selbst passend herrichten könne, ordne ich rechts und links auf dem unter dem Sattelbaum A liegenden Sattelkissen K durch Aufnähen vorn offene Fülltaschen T, Fig. 3, an, durch deren Schuhe S starke, aber nachgiebige Lederstreifen R gesteckt sind, die an den Ortblättern B C bezw. deren Polsterung festsitzen und das Sattelkissen dadurch in passender Lage erhalten. Diese Taschen T können der Form des Thieres entsprechend mit einer passenden Füllmasse s aus Langstrohbündeln, Heu u. dergl. ausgestopft werden. Dadurch wird es jedem Reiter ermöglicht, seinen Sattel so lange selbst zu verändern, bis er eine feste Lage einnimmt, so dafs ein lästiger Druck auf bestimmte Körperstellen des Thieres vollständig ausgeschlossen ist. A very special consideration must be given to the distance between the lower ends of the locus, if the saddle should otherwise fall correctly and the animal and rider should not experience any discomfort. When making women's saddles, however, the latter point is mainly important, because the rider's right thigh would otherwise get into an uncomfortable position when riding. So that the rider can adjust the saddle himself in the most simple way at any time, I arrange on the right and left of the saddle pad K lying under the saddle tree A by sewing on the front open filling pockets T, Fig. 3, through whose shoes S strong but yielding leather strips R are inserted, which respectively on the place sheets BC. their upholstery is tight and the saddle pad is kept in a suitable position. These pockets T can be stuffed according to the shape of the animal with a suitable filling material s made from bundles of long straw, hay and the like. This enables every rider to change his saddle himself until he assumes a fixed position, so that annoying pressure on certain parts of the animal's body is completely excluded. The previous rail-like locations do not allow such a facility.
