Bathroom sink

The invention relates to a washbasin with a rear wall and an inlet associated with the rear wall and with a basin recess and an outlet associated with this basin recess.

Wash basins are known in many different forms, for example from DE 296 06 723 U1 or DE 299 22 895 Ul. They give users the opportunity to wash their hands in particular. For this purpose, an inlet for fresh water and an outlet for used water are required. The user approaches the wash basin from the front. An inlet is provided in the area of the back wall; normally it protrudes vertically upwards from a tap bank in the form of a fitting and then releases the fresh water above a basin. Hands can then be cleaned in the area of this basin. The outlet for used water is provided in the base area of the basin. Normally it is located in the middle of the rounded shape with a low point at the bottom.

The design of washbasins is concerned with the elegant design of fittings, elegantly curved curves for the basin and the front or with special designs for the tap bank. However, there is still interest in other, particularly surprising or technically advantageous design forms for everyday objects such as washbasins that are used several times a day.

It is therefore an object of the invention to propose such a new design for a washbasin.

This object is achieved in that the rear wall has a substantially vertically arranged flat, level area, that the basin recess has a flat bottom surface that descends from the front of the washbasin to the rear wall, that a slot is provided between the underside of the rear wall and the bottom surface of the basin recess, which slot leads to the drain, and that a collecting device is provided as a drain on the side of the slot facing away from the basin recess.

This concept creates a very unusual looking, but at the same time very practical and functional system, which also offers interesting technical advantages. For example, it is relatively easy to clean and maintain, and dirt is also not visible to the user during the period of use.

These advantages are particularly evident when the washbasin is located in an area that is accessible to many different users, for example in washrooms in public buildings, companies, restaurants or youth hostels. On the one hand, the level of dirt tends to be higher in washbasins that are accessible to the public, as does the potential cost of repairs due to the particularly frequent use. On the other hand, because different users want to use the washbasin, it is particularly undesirable to have dirt left behind by previous users in sight.

The advantages mentioned are achieved in particular by the fact that the fittings can be completely housed behind the essentially vertical and flat rear wall and only the water-dispensing elements, i.e. the inlets, protrude at the front. The water-dispensing elements of the inlets can be connected to the supply behind them using so-called reinforced hoses, for example. This makes it possible to design the vertical rear wall so that it is easy to remove. If the vertical rear wall is easy to remove, the drain, which is also located behind the rear wall, can also be easily cleaned after removal and other maintenance measures can also be carried out.

The actual drainage point is located behind the vertical back wall. The user of the washbasin only sees the water flowing out through the narrow slot at the end. However, the user does not see how the drain is designed in detail in the area behind the slot. This means that less attention can be paid to visual design and more to functionality. For example, deep-drawing can be used to create slopes from the left and right in the middle that run towards a drainage hole that is located in the middle of a collecting device.

The overall result is an extraordinarily elegant appearance with only straight, flat surfaces. The user looks at a vertically rising rear wall, towards which a floor surface runs diagonally downwards from the user in the form of an inclined plane, above which the basin is formed. The basin therefore has an inclined plane as a floor, with the rear wall rising vertically upwards on the back but forming a slot at the bottom. The slot preferably extends across the entire width of the bottom of the basin. In preferred embodiments, the side walls are also formed as vertically rising side walls, although no slot is required here.

The so-called tap bank is completely eliminated in this design. Areas on the top of the side walls can be used as storage space. The back wall can be pulled up vertically in a single flat surface from the slot up to the area of the mirror cabinets.

In a preferred embodiment, however, a slight bevel of this rear wall towards the user is provided, which leads to a somewhat more harmonious appearance and at the same time to better removability of the rear wall in the event of dismantling.

The embodiment shown in Figure 1 is already mounted on a wall and ready for use. Parts and arrangements that are not of interest have been omitted. For example, it can be installed in a niche between two walls, which is particularly space-saving because the entire area between these two walls (not shown here) would be filled.

In the illustration, the user would approach the washbasin from the right; there is a front side 11 with a narrow front edge 12. The edge 12 has a horizontal surface. This front edge ends with a front edge 13 towards the user.

To the left of the user, the front 11 merges into a left side wall 14. The left side wall 14 is limited at the top by a left support surface 15, which is horizontal and can be equipped for storing soap and utensils, for example. The left support surface 15 is in turn closed off on the left by a left outer wall 16. This left outer wall 16 can then connect to the above-mentioned wall if necessary.

The opposite side is constructed in a similar way. There is a right side wall 17, which is closed off at the top by a right support surface 18. This can also be designed and/or equipped for storing various objects. Not visible in Figure 1 is the right outer wall 19, which could in turn be connected to a wall.

The front side 11, the left side wall 14 and the right side wall 17 define a basin 20. The user holds his hand in the area of this basin 20 to wash it. The basin 20 is bordered at the bottom by a floor surface 21. The floor surface 21 is flat and runs from the front side 11 as an inclined plane sloping backwards. This also means that the left side wall 14 and the right side wall 17 form a pointed triangle, with the narrow tip of this triangle then being formed by the front side 11. Water on the floor surface 21 will therefore run backwards.

In Figure 1, the area from the bottom surface 21 to a slot 22 can be seen, which is located immediately above the bottom surface 21 and extends from the left side wall 14 to the right side wall 17 with a constant slot width continuously over the entire width of the wash basin or the basin recess 20 and the bottom surface 21.

While the slot 22 is limited downwards by the base surface 21, it is limited upwards by a rear wall 30. This rear wall 30 forms a further boundary of the basin trough 20. The rear wall 30 can be a vertical, flat continuous surface that extends upwards from the slot 22, but in the embodiment shown in Figure 1 it has a bevel line 31. The bevel line 31 lies in the plane of the left support surface 15 and the right support surface 18 as well as the front edge 12, which all form a common plane.

Above the bevel line 31 in the rear wall 30 there is a vertically projecting area 33 which is arranged at a distance from the wall. Below the bevel line 31 the rear wall 30 projects towards the user and forms a projecting area 32. The angle formed at the bevel line is 135°.

From the rear wall 30, or more precisely from the vertically projecting area 33 of the rear wall 30, fittings 41 protrude forward, from which water can be drawn if necessary. The fittings 41 are located above the base surface 21 of the basin 20 and at such a height that hands can be washed comfortably underneath.

The fittings 41, together with other elements discussed below, form the inlet 40 for the water.

From the hands, the used water then passes, as already described above, onto the floor surface 21 and then into the slot 22, which is thus one of the elements forming the drain 50.

Above the rear wall 30 and the fittings 41 there are mirror cabinets 60, which are also mounted on the wall.

Figure 2 shows the same embodiment as Figure 1. Here, however, the rear wall 30 has been removed for cleaning or assembly purposes. However, the basin trough 20 with the front 11, the left support surface 15 and the right support surface 18 can still be seen. The mirror cabinets 60 are also unchanged.

However, the rear wall 30 with the fittings 41 protruding from it has been pulled forward from the wall and is now slightly slanted. The fittings 41 are supported on the front edge 12. This means that on the side of the rear wall 30 facing away from the basin 20, you can see that there are reinforced hoses 42 opposite the fittings 41. These reinforced hoses 42 are often used to create movable, but stable pipes for fluids, in particular for cold and warm water. These reinforced hoses 42 then lead into the wall and there to the water supply.

The user can now easily reach the parts located behind the rear wall that has been brought forward in this way in order to clean or maintain them. This applies, among other things, to these reinforced hoses 42 with the connections, but also to the rearmost area of the floor surface 21 in the area of the slot 22 from Figure 1. The slot 22 is of course no longer located in Figure 2, since its upper limit, i.e. the beveled area 23 of the floor surface, is no longer at the same distance from the floor surface 21.

In particular, the user can now reach the areas of the drain 50 that cannot be seen in Figure 1 and are also not visible to the user, i.e. the collecting device 51. This is also slightly hidden in Figure 2, but will be shown later.

placed on the area of the rear wall 30. The cut is perpendicular to the rear wall 30; the area around the front side 11 is omitted.

On the left is the wall with the 60 mirror cabinets hanging on top of it.

The rear wall 30 with its vertically projecting area 33, which is bent backwards at its uppermost end, is arranged under the mirror cabinets 60. The rear wall 30 or the vertically projecting area 33 is at a distance from the wall in which the reinforced hoses 42 (not shown) and other technical elements can be arranged. The inlet 40 with the fitting 41 extends vertically forwards from the rear wall 30 or the vertically projecting area 33.

In the embodiment in Figure 3, the rear wall 30 is equipped with a thicker holding part 34 covered with the vertically projecting region 33, which cooperates at its lower edge 35 in a hinge-like manner with the upwardly projecting edge 56 of a rear wall 54 of the collecting device 51.

The collecting device 51 is arranged below the rear wall 30 and is approximately box-shaped in section. It is closed all around, with the exception of the upper right region. There, the bottom surface 21 of the basin trough 20 protrudes from the right and bends slightly downwards. This beveled area 23 of the bottom surface is, like the slot 22, of constant width and extends lengthwise from the side wall 14 to the side wall 17. Due to the inclination of the bottom surface 21, water lying on the bottom surface 21 flows to the left in the illustration in Figure 3 and thus into the collecting device 51. The area between the bottom surface 21 and the vertically projecting area 33 of the rear wall 30 is taken up to a considerable extent by a projecting area 32 of the rear wall 30. This forms an angle of 135° with the vertically projecting area 33, or in other words an angle of 45° with the horizontal. The vertically rising portion 33 and this projecting portion 32 close

to one another at a bending line 31 in the rear wall 30. This bending line 31 runs horizontally and exactly perpendicular to the image plane.

A small space remains between the outermost end of the projecting area 32 and the floor surface 21, namely the slot 22. This has the same slot width over its entire length and thus over the width of the floor surface 21. This is wide enough to be able to completely absorb any water that may accumulate.

Another position is shown in thinner lines in Figure 3. Here it is assumed that the rear wall 30 is to be dismantled. To do this, a fastening element 36 is loosened, which is located at the top end of the vertically protruding area 33 directly below the mirror cabinets 60. This can be a screw, but also, for example, a magnetic holding element or a similar fastening option. The rear wall 54 and a holding element 37 for the connection with the screw or the fastening element 36 define the distance of the vertical area 33 from the wall.

After this fastening is released, the rear wall 30 can then be pivoted around the bevel line 31. As a result, as can be seen in the illustration, the vertically protruding area 33 is inclined forwards towards the user. The fittings 41 then finally rest on the floor surface 21 at the front when tilted to the maximum or, depending on the length of the fittings 41, on the front edge 12.

The initially still protruding area 32 of the rear wall 30 is also pivoted about the bend line 31 and is then almost vertical, as can be seen in Figure 3. The slot 22 no longer exists or has significantly changed its position and dimensions.

Depending on the design, the rear panel 33 can now be completely removed or pulled forward or left as it is. The user or the assembly or cleaning staff can

Now reach behind the rear wall 30 from the front and carry out repairs or cleaning there.

It should be noted that the upper left cover of the collecting device 51 does not have to extend over the entire length in order, for example, to allow access to the area behind the rear wall 30.

Below the collecting device 51, a drain 53 is indicated, which will be discussed in more detail in the following figures.

The collecting device 51 is also provided with a rear wall 54 as a rear end and a front wall 55 as a front end. Both are parallel and vertical and also parallel approximately to the front side 11 and the rear wall 30. The rear wall 54 and the front wall 55 prevent used water from running out of the collecting device 51.

Figure 4 shows an alternative embodiment in a representation similar to Figure 3. The majority of the elements shown are identical, so reference is made to the figure description for Figure 3.

What is different is above all the transition from the base surface 21 via the slot 22 into the collecting device 51. Unlike in Figure 3, here the bevelled area 23 and the base surface 21 and the front wall 55 of the collecting device 51 are a single element. After being bevelled, the base surface 21 merges directly into the front wall 55 of the collecting device, which is slightly inclined here, similar to the area 23 in the embodiment in Figure 3. This makes the collecting device slightly smaller, but this can easily be compensated for by suitable dimensioning of the other elements. The slot 22 retains both its position and its dimensions. The advantage of the embodiment in Figure 4 is primarily that, from a manufacturing point of view, a bevel that is already considered useful can perhaps be used for another purpose instead of another part.

Figure 5 shows another embodiment of a washbasin or vanity unit, in this case in its individual parts without mounting on a wall.

The bottom view, Figure 5a, shows the washbasin in its entirety. You can see the left support surface 15, the right support surface 18 and the front edge 12 and between these the base surface 21, which extends backwards to the slot 22. Above the slot, the projecting area 32 and above that the vertically rising area 33 of the rear wall 30 protrude upwards.

In the representation arranged directly above according to Figure 5b, the area of the rear wall 30 has now been omitted. This means that the floor surface 21 can no longer be seen up to the slot 22, but up to its actual end. Behind the floor surface 21, the area of the drain 50 can be seen, in particular the collecting device 51. This has two inclined surfaces 52, which are each inclined downwards from the left side wall 14 or the right side wall 17 and run there to a drain 53. These inclined surfaces 52 are provided with protruding edges both at the front opposite the floor surface 21 (hidden, therefore not visible) and at the rear. The rear wall 54 ends flush with the rearmost edge of the left and right lateral support surfaces 15, 18.

Used water that reaches the bottom surface 21 of the basin 20 flows backwards due to the incline and then into the collecting device 51 after the end of the bottom surface 21. It cannot flow out of the collecting device 51 due to the rear wall 54 and the wall (not shown) that ends at the front. It therefore reaches the sloping surfaces 52 and thus runs from both the left and the right towards the drain 53 in the middle.

The entire concept shown in the middle image, Figure 5b, is made of one piece; in the example shown, this element is made of stainless steel. The various sub-elements can be welded together. It is also possible to use deep-drawn parts.

In the uppermost section, i.e. Figure 5c , the rear wall 30 can be seen with its two areas 32 and 33, which are angled against each other along the bend line 31. It can also be seen that the projecting area 32 is less wide than the vertically projecting area 33. This allows the projecting area 32 to be fitted between the two left and right side walls 14, 17, while the upper vertically projecting area 33 is flush with the left and right outer walls 16, 19.

Finally, Figure 6 shows a schematic cross-section of the corresponding arrangement. On the left you can see the front side 11 with the front edge 12 and the front edge 13. From here to the right runs the left side wall 14, which can be seen in the cross-section and which widens out to the right in a triangular shape.

The floor surface 21 below the basin trough 20 can also be clearly seen here. As in the embodiment in Figure 4, the floor surface 21 merges here in the area of the slot 22 into the front wall 55 of the collecting device 51, of which the rear wall 54 can also be clearly seen.

The slot 22 is located here between the rearmost edge of the base surface 21, which is also the upper edge of the front wall 55 of the collecting device 51, and on the other hand the lower edge of the area 32 of the rear wall 30. Claims (13)

1. Wash basin with a rear wall ( 30 ) and an inlet ( 40 ) associated with the rear wall ( 30 ) and with a basin recess ( 20 ) and an outlet ( 50 ) associated with the basin recess ( 20 ), characterized in that
that the rear wall ( 30 ) has a substantially vertically arranged flat, planar region ( 33 ),
that the basin ( 20 ) has a flat bottom surface ( 21 ) descending from the front ( 11 ) of the washbasin to the rear wall ( 30 ),
that between the underside of the rear wall ( 30 ) and the bottom surface ( 21 ) of the basin ( 20 ) a slot ( 22 ) is provided which leads to the drain ( 50 ), and
that on the side of the slot ( 22 ) facing away from the basin ( 20 ) a collecting device ( 51 ) is provided as a drain ( 53 ). 2. Wash basin according to claim 1, characterized in that the rear wall ( 30 ) has, in addition to the substantially vertically arranged flat, planar region ( 33 ), a second, likewise flat, planar region ( 32 ) which is beveled relative to the first-mentioned region ( 33 ) and is directed towards the basin recess ( 20 ). 3. Wash basin according to claim 2, characterized in that the angle between the planes of the two areas ( 32 , 33 ) is 135° plus/minus 10°. 4. Wash basin according to claim 2 or 3, characterized in that the bevel between the two regions ( 32 , 33 ) lies in a plane which simultaneously represents the plane in which support surfaces ( 15 , 18 ) are also located, which are formed next to the basin recess ( 20 ) above side walls ( 14 , 17 ). 5. Wash basin according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that it consists essentially of stainless steel. 6. Wash basin according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the bottom surface ( 21 ) of the basin recess ( 2 ) is bent downwards in the region of the slot ( 22 ). 7. Wash basin according to claim 6, characterized in that the downwardly bent bottom surface ( 21 ) merges into a front wall ( 55 ) of the collecting device ( 51 ). 8. Wash basin according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the rear wall ( 30 ) carries the fittings ( 41 ) for the water supply and flexible supply lines ( 42 ) for the water to the fittings are arranged behind the rear wall ( 30 ). 9. Wash basin according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the slot ( 22 ) extends over the entire width of the basin recess ( 20 ). 10. Wash basin according to claim 9, characterized in that the slot width is constant. 11.
