Description

The innovation concerns a container for a retraction thread, especially for dentistry.

Various retraction fluids for impregnating separate retraction threads as well as impregnated, dry retraction threads are known.

Moistening or soaking dry, separate retraction threads is time-consuming and cumbersome.

The innovation seeks to remedy this, which is achieved by storing the retraction thread ready for use in a container from which it can be gradually removed as needed.

The retraction thread located in the container is expediently soaked with a known retraction fluid until it is saturated.

According to another preferred embodiment of the innovation, the container is filled with a retraction fluid, wherein the thread is advantageously wound helically in the container in the manner of a coil and one end of it is led out of the container to the outside.

In the container, the retraction thread can be wound onto a cylindrical core, for example.

The container is expediently provided with a closure, for example a screw cap, which has a narrow opening through which the retraction thread can be passed and from which it can be removed.

The closure of the container is preferably provided with a cap through which the opening and the end of the retraction thread protruding from it can be closed tightly, in particular airtight, to the outside.

Preferably, the cap is captively connected to the closure.

According to a further preferred embodiment of the innovation, the sealing cap is provided on its side facing the opening with a sharp-edged ring through which the retraction thread can be severed when the cap is placed on the closure.

The container is expediently designed in the form of a can or bottle, with a lid inserted into the neck of the bottle, which has a narrow opening for the passage of the retraction thread.

Conveniently, the screw cap and at least the ring of the sealing cap for separating the retraction thread are made of metal.

Examples of embodiments of the innovation are explained below with reference to the drawing, in which Figures 1 and 2 show embodiments of the container according to the innovation, each with a ready-to-use retraction thread.

Figure 1 shows a container 10, for example a can or a bottle made of plastic or glass, with a neck 12 onto which a closure 14, expediently a screw closure, is placed or screwed.

The front surface or front wall 24 of the screw cap 14 is provided with a narrow through-opening 16 through which a retraction thread 18 arranged in the container 10 is guided outwards.

The retraction thread 18 in the container 10 is soaked with a retraction fluid (for example Orbat) until it is saturated, and it is arranged in the container 10, as shown, in an approximately helical manner, tightly wound in order to accommodate as large a quantity of thread as possible in the container.

The upper end of the ready-to-use retraction thread 18 is guided out through the opening 16. The dentist can thus pull the desired length or amount of retraction thread out of the container and cut it off with scissors.

To close the opening 16, from which a short piece of the retraction thread 18 still protrudes, a cap 20, in particular a sealing cap, is provided, which can be placed on the closure 14. If the cap 20 is placed on the closure 14, the container 10 is practically hermetically sealed to the outside. The short end of the retraction thread 18, which still protrudes from the opening 16, is located inside the sealing cap 20.

The latter is conveniently connected captively to the closure 14.

In the embodiment described above, the closure 14 and the cap 20 can expediently consist of a suitable plastic material, the cap 20 being directly connected to the closure 14 or formed thereon via a flexible bracket 36.

According to a further development of the innovation, the sealing cap 20 is now provided on its inner end face with an annular collar 22, the own annular end face of which is formed with sharp edges.

The axial length of the collar 22 is shorter than the axial length of the cap 20.

If the cap 20 is now placed on the closure 14, the cylindrical wall of the cap 20 initially surrounds the closure 14 and seals the container 10 airtight to the outside. If the sealing cap 20 is now pressed against the closure 14, the retraction thread 18 is pressed by the sharp-edged collar 22 against the flat front surface 24 of the closure 14 and is thereby severed.

In other words, when the sealing cap 20 is closed, the soaked, ready-to-use retraction thread 18 is severed in such a way that the end of the advancing retraction thread 18 remains hermetically sealed under the sealing cap 20.

In this further development of the innovation, at least the cutting mechanism, i.e. the collar 22, and the front wall 24 of the closure 14 are made of metal. However, it is expedient for the closure 14 and the cap 20 to be made entirely of metal.

In the embodiment according to Figure 2, the container 10 is filled with a retraction fluid 26 in which the retraction thread 18 is located.

The bottle neck 12 is closed with a lid 30 made of plastic, in which a narrow opening 32 is formed through which the retraction thread 18 is passed, while the retraction liquid 26 is retained in the container 10 by the lid 30.

As in the embodiment according to Figure 1, a closure 14 is placed, preferably screwed, on the neck 12 of the container 26, which closure is provided with an opening 16 on its front surface 24 and which, just as in Figure 1, can be hermetically sealed by a sealing cap 20.

The mechanism for cutting the thread 18, which is guided outward through the openings 32 and 16, is designed in the same way as in the embodiment according to Figure 1.

The retraction thread 18 located in the container 10 and thus in the retraction fluid 26 is expediently also wound in a helical manner, wherein in the embodiment according to Figure 2 a coil or a winding core 28 is provided, which can consist of glass and on which the thread 18 is wound.

The core 28 expediently extends centrally to the central axis of the container 10 and it can be secured laterally at its upper and lower ends by collars 34 against tipping or displacement.

The collars 34 can be molded onto the container 10 or attached thereto in another suitable manner, with sufficient space being provided radially between the core 28 and at least the upper collar 34 in Figure 2 so that the thread 18 can be pulled off the core 28 without hindrance.

The handling, i.e. the pulling of the retraction thread 18 from the container 10 and the cutting of the thread, are otherwise carried out in the same manner as described in the embodiment according to Figure 1.

Although not shown in detail, a device for severing the retraction thread 18 can alternatively be designed in the form of a shearing device, which, for example, similar to adhesive film unwinding devices, has a protruding

Has a tear-off edge, for example made of metal, over which the retraction thread 18 is guided and then severed. When the container is closed in the non-use position, the shearing device is then covered in a suitable manner to avoid any risk of injury. Such a shearing device can be provided, for example, either in the closure 14 or the cap 20.

The innovative design of the pre-soaked, ready-to-use retraction thread with dosing container has several advantages.

It allows a uniform concentration of liquid on the thread, which ensures safe medical use.

With impregnated retraction threads, the substance causing the refraction is already in solution and takes effect more quickly and efficiently (than with impregnated threads).

This simple application saves time in the dentist's office. Packaging is also saved because the retraction fluid and the retraction thread are combined into one unit.

Claims (11)

1. Container for retraction thread, in particular for dentistry, characterized in that the retraction thread ( 18 ) is housed ready for use in the container ( 10 ), from which it can be gradually withdrawn. 2. Container according to claim 1, characterized in that the retraction thread ( 18 ) is impregnated with a retraction fluid known per se until saturation. 3. Container according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that the container ( 10 ) is filled with a retraction fluid. 4. Container according to one of claims 1 to 3, characterized in that the retraction thread ( 18 ) is wound helically in the container ( 10 ) and one end of it is led out of the container ( 10 ) to the outside. 5. Container according to claim 4, characterized in that the retraction thread ( 18 ) in the container ( 10 ) is wound onto a core ( 28 ), for example a cylindrical core. 6. Container according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the container ( 10 ) is provided with a closure ( 14 ) which has a narrow opening ( 16 ) through which the retraction thread ( 18 ) is passed and from which it can be withdrawn. 7. Container according to claim 6, characterized in that the closure ( 14 ) of the container ( 10 ) is provided with a cap ( 20 ) by means of which the container ( 10 ) can be closed airtight to the outside. 8. Container according to claim 7, characterized in that the cap ( 20 ) is provided on its side facing the closure ( 14 ) with a sharp-edged collar, by means of which the retraction thread ( 18 ) can be severed when the cap ( 20 ) is placed on the closure ( 14 ). 9. Container according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the container ( 10 ) is in the form of a can or a bottle which is closed by a lid ( 30 ) which has a narrow opening ( 32 ) for the passage of the retraction thread ( 18 ). 10. Container according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the closure ( 14 ) and the cap ( 20 ) are made of metal. 11. Container according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that a shearing device, preferably in the form of a protruding separating or cutting edge, is provided in the closure ( 14 ) and/or the cap ( 20 ) of the container ( 10 ).
