Abstract

Liquid cleaning agent is pumped via the standpipe to an outlet. A further tank collects dirt and dirt-laden liquid delivered to it by a motor-driven suction fan. A common lid forms an air- and watertight seal for the tanks. The standpipe (3) fixed to the cleaning tank (1) passes through an opening (10) in the lid (9), and is connected by a coupling component (11) to the suction side of the pump (2). The cleaning tank fits inside the dirt tank (5). A valve plug can be mounted in the lid opening, sealing it off when the cleaning tank is removed from the dirt tank, being typically formed by a flexible membrane fixed at one side to the opening edge in the lid. The top part of the standpipe can be rigid, lifting the plug off its seat when the cleaning tank is inserted in the dirt tank.
