Es wird also mit den in ungefähre Gestalt vorgepreßten Glaskörpern in gleicher Weise verfahren, wie dies bei den Zwischenkörpern bekannt ist, die man durch Auflegen einer Glasschwarte auf einen die Glasschicht an den Rändern festhaltenden Ring und Durchsinkenlassen der Schicht innerhalb des Ringes erhält. Das neue Verfahren ermöglicht ein allmähliches, nicht plötzliches Ausblasen des vorgepreßten Hohlkörpers in die endgültige Gestalt insofern, als der feuchte Deckel mehrere Male kürzer oder länger und mehr oder weniger fest auf den oberen Rand der Fertigform aufgesetzt werden kann, während die Glasmasse in der Fertigform durch ihr eigenes Gewicht nach unten sinkt. Da der Deckel leicht zu handhaben ist, kann der Arbeiter fortwährend beobachten, wie weit der Hohlkörper in der Fertigform in seiner Bildung vorgeschritten ist, und er kann diese durch das mehr oder weniger rasch aufeinander folgende festere oder leichtere Aufdrücken des Deckels beeinflussen.
