Description
KAISERLICHESIMPERIAL
PATENTAMT.PATENT OFFICE.
The process for the preparation of bismuth protein compounds from natural, water-soluble protein bodies, which contain bismuth contained in a solid - non-ionizable - form consists in the fact that aqueous solutions precipitated from albumen with solutions of bismuth nitrate either in saline water or in nitric acid and afterwards Coagulation can be heated for some time. Of the manner in which the solutions of the bismuth salt come into use, depends on the form in which the bismuth is contained in the products. Comes the bismuth nitrate for use in a saline solution, the end product will contain bismuth oxychloride organically bound; if, on the other hand, it is used in a nitric acid solution, it is contained in the end product in the form of bismuth subnitrate.
In the chemical literature there are probably indications that albuminous substances pass through Heavy metal salts are precipitated (see e.g. annual report on the progress of animal chemistry, Vol. 17, p. 11), in the handbook of organic chemistry by Gmelin-Krauth, 4th ed., IV. Vol., III. Th., P. 2241 there is even one in relation to bismuth nitrate. the end However, the result of the present proceedings could not be foreseen from these references, there is the precipitate obtained by simply felling the albumen with bismuth nitrate does not contain the metal in a tight bond, but only in a very loose bond. From the same can by treatment with dilute acid, e.g. B. hydrochloric acid, the bismuth slightly pulled out in the same way it is immediately blackened by sulphurous alkalis. Also contains a commercially available bismuth protein preparation - see Merck's annual report 1888, P. 11 and 12 - the bismuth only in loosely Binding. When pouring over water it goes into after a short contact with it a sticky mass over which the compound is broken down into its constituent parts; the Albumen goes into solution, and the residue contains by far the greatest part of the bismuth.
The bismuth protein preparation on the market has a disgusting smell and tasteless taste. In contrast to these compounds are the new bismuth preparations not decomposed by water or diluted acids. With alkaline sulfur they become only very gradually colored light brown and are also tasteless and odorless.
Bi. According to analyzes, the preparations presented according to Example I contain about 21.5 pCt. Bi.
Der Rückstand wird so langeI. 242 g of crystallized bismuth nitrate are dissolved in 1,200 cc of saline solution of 25 0 B. remains hot and after filtration with stirring to the solution of 500 g of albumin in 5 1 of water were allowed to run. Coagulation begins immediately, which is accelerated and brought to an end by good, continued stirring. The same volume of healthy water is then added to the reaction product, boiled by the introduction of steam, and hot filtered. The residue will be so long
Hierauf wird geprefst, getrocknet und pulverisirt.washed with water until the wash waters are neutral and free of bismuth. Then will pressed, dried and pulverized.
I angegeben.II. 242 g of bismuth nitrate are 2 to 2 1 I 2 times the weight of nitric acid of 1.21 spec. Weight solved. This solution is now run into an albumin solution prepared as above and the rest of the procedure is as indicated in Example I.
Das Präparat stellt ein rahmweifses, geruch- und geschmackloses Pulver dar.III. 100 g of casein are in 500 ecm of water suspended and neutralized with sodium hydroxide solution with gentle warming (phenolphthalein as an indicator). To this solution is added a dissolution of 48 g of crystallized bismuth nitrate in approx 250 water with vigorous stirring until a uniformly flaky, dense precipitate formed is. It is then heated to a boil and held. for a few hours in mild Boil, then filter hot, wash a few times with very dilute hydrochloric acid, and then wash abundantly with distilled water, praises, dries and powdered. The preparation represents a creamy white, odorless and tasteless powder.
