Abstract

A gearbox (4) is driven by an engine (2) via a clutch (3). A secondary transfer gearbox (STG) (6) drives a motor vehicle's front and rear wheels. Brakes (9-12) are coupled into a drive train (1) for reducing torsional vibrations in the drive train by braking. One brake (11) fits in the STG and is designed as a multiple disk brake supported on the STG casing. An independent claim is also included for a method for damping down torsional vibrations in a motor vehicle's drive train.
