Abstract

The lining of an automobile roof comprises two layers (1, 2) and (1', 2') which are welded to one another only at certain places (3) so that air cushions covered by dome-like regions of the upper layer (1, 2) are formed.

Description

The invention relates to a headliner made of two interconnected Layers of fiber-reinforced thermoplastic layers and plastic foam foils, between which there are areas with air cushions.

Motor vehicle interior parts are increasingly being made from plastics provides. Foam sheeting, in particular, is used for headliners made of polyurethane or polyolefins used with a Plastic film are covered. The foams mentioned can absorb weak impacts in the event of a strong impact, e.g. B. in an accident or when driving over a deep pothole, they become so strong together pressed that the head of the passenger practically directly against the hard metal sheet of the automobile roof strikes.

A 657 281 describes a component as impact protection and for sound Insulation in the automobile interior, consisting of a plastic foam layer, e.g. B. made of polyurethane, and a non-positively connected support body made of a natural fiber reinforced thermoplastic.

In DE-A 43 11 592 automotive interior trim parts are described are characterized by high rigidity. A special embodiment consists of two flat layers of natural fiber reinforced ten thermoplastics, one layer having hollow chambers. The Cladding parts are made by ver on a recessed lower tool first a preheated, flat fleece made of thermo plastic fibers and natural fibers and this fleece by pressing of a first upper tool provided with corresponding elevations and consolidated into a compact location. Then the first top tool removed, a second preheated fleece is placed on the first layer and by means of  a second upper tool, which is not provided with elevations Squeeze consolidated and in the raised areas of the first layer with this connected. In this way, the lower parts of the lower layer are formed Hollow chambers. To prevent the layers from collapsing, during the Production of the composite part by means of nozzle needles air under pressure into the hollow chambers are pressed. This is obviously a right complicated procedure.

The invention was based on the object of an automotive headliner develop that not only absorbs weak impacts, but stiff, but still is so deformable that it still the passenger even in the event of a stronger impact Offers protection. Furthermore, the headliner should be sound absorbing, so that it can Noise reduction is suitable. The headliner should also be easy to manufacture. These tasks are solved in the automobile headlining according to the invention.

The headlining consists of two layers, both of which contain a fiber-reinforced thermoplastic layer and, when adhered to it, a closed-cell foam film. The foam sheets are arranged opposite each other and welded together. The thermoplastic layer can contain all the usual fiber-forming thermoplastics, preferably polyolefins and in particular polypropylene, and it also contains non-thermoplastic fibers as reinforcement. Suitable are preferably those made of natural fibers such as flax, jute, hemp, sisal, kenaf and cotton, but also mineral fibers such. B. glass fibers. The foam sheet consists of a cross-linked polyolefin, preferably made of poly propylene or polyethylene. It should be closed-celled if possible, its density is preferably between 30 and 100 g / cm 3 . The thickness of the thermoplastic layer is preferably 2 to 10 mm, that of the foam sheet 1 to 2 mm. Both layers together have a weight per unit area of preferably 200 to 2000, in particular 400 to 1500 g / m 2 .

It is essential to the invention that the two layers only on a large number of parts areas are welded together so that there is between the layers non-welded areas containing air cushions, where the upper Layer is bulged. The welded areas can be of different types Have shape, they can e.g. B. be round, oval or rectangular. You lead the way preferably 10 to 80% of the area of the headliner, the height of the bulge Exercise can be 50 to 300% based on the thickness of the top layer. The a bulge containing air cushions is when there is a strong impact inside deformable and can thus buffer an impact.

One can on the upper layer of the headliner facing the tin roof Cover fleece, e.g. B. be applied from polyester fibers or an aluminum foil; on the lower side facing the passenger compartment there can be a 1 to 3 mm thick cushion layer made of plastic foam, e.g. B. based on polyurethane or Polypropylene, and a decorative layer, e.g. B. a fleece or a film attached his.

Fig. 1 zeigt einen Querschnitt durch einen Dachhimmel. Fig. 1 shows a cross section through a headliner. 1 and 2 denote the thermoplastic layer or the foam sheet of the upper layer, 1 'and 2 ' the thermoplastic layer and the foam sheet of the lower layer. The two layers are only welded to one another at the partial areas 3 , which results in the cavities 4 .

Fig. 2 shows the headliner of Fig. 1 seen from above. With 3 the welded sections are again designated, with 4 the bulging cavities. You can see that these are connected. This results in the possibility of cable ducts or tubes, for. B. for the air conditioning, insert and thus invisibly integrated into the headlining.

Fig. 3 shows a cross section through a headliner, for the sake of simplicity at a point where there is no cavity. Here, the covering fleece 5 attached in a preferred embodiment and the cushion layer 6 and the decorative layer 7 are shown.

In the manufacture of the headlining according to the invention, the Starting materials for the two layers manufactured. This will be cont layers of foam film and a mixed fleece made of thermoplastic fibers and natural fibers or mineral fibers merged. The respective towards mutually facing surfaces of the webs at temperatures above the softening point of the thermoplastic, e.g. B. by blowing with hot air, heated; then the two webs, preferably by means of rollers, with pressed together. This results in a good bond between fleece and Foam film and a composite sheet is obtained that is still flexible.

Suitable cuts are cut from this composite web. An over the melting point of the thermoplastic pre-heated blank, which in the finished The headliner forms the upper layer, with the foam film side behind above, in the lower tool provided with knob-shaped elevations Press inserted. Another preheated blank is placed on this blank, which forms the lower layer in the finished headlining, with the foam film side hung down. At the same time, the press comes with a smooth upper structure airtight seal and air is created through side-mounted nozzles blown in between the blanks. Through the two closed cells Foam foils cannot escape the air, so that the building up Air pressure the lower blank is pressed onto the lower tool and there tight around the knobs. The cuts only touch on the opening positions of the raised knobs, in between a coherent forms Cavity with an air cushion. The - in the case of polypropylene as thermo plast - hot cuts from 180 to 200 ° C are then pressed together.

The thermoplastic fibers melt completely while the crosslinked Polyolefin of the foam sheet does not melt, but only softens, so that Air cushion remains dimensionally stable. At the point of contact of the two Layers weld the softened foam sheets together. In the cold The thermoplastic then solidifies again, the fleece consolidates and forms the natural fiber reinforced thermoplastic layer.

Before pressing, the cushion layer 6 and the decorative layer 7 and the cover fleece 5 can be applied to the underside of the lower blank on the top of the upper blank. These layers are pressed together and are connected to the base layers via the melting thermoplastic fibers of the nonwoven fabric. It goes without saying that the blank lying at the top in the manufacture described (with cushion and decorative layer) forms the underside of the headliner towards the passenger compartment when installed.
