Description

The invention relates to a coupling means for the pain-reduced introduction of sound waves in the human body according to the claims.

The invention relates to an agent, also called coupling agent in technical jargon, for more or less pain-reduced introduction of sound waves, especially shock waves in the human, possibly also in the animal body for reasons of diagnosis and / or therapy. The coupling agent is applied in layers to the affected person Body part and / or applied to the coupling bellows of the device with which the Treatment is carried out.

From literature and practice, there is reliable knowledge that the pain sensation of the Patients do not neglect the coupling agent used in lithotripsy (ESWL) and other therapies with sound applications (ESWT). From all Vaseline, a well-known coupling agent that has been tried and tested in practice Hydrocarbon waste product in petroleum distillation as the most promising proved. For example, by A. Heidenreich et al. from the journal "Urologe / A / (1995) 34, pages 343-347, the ESWL by cutaneous application of petroleum jelly perform painlessly. However, Vaseline has in the previous context too Disadvantage; its consistency is a gelatinous, very tough-elastic material and therefore not suitable for easy and quick application in a thin layer. However, this is a prerequisite for the desired treatment success. The practical one The use of petroleum jelly has also shown that when petroleum jelly is applied too thickly Layers the sound waves are strongly dampened. The reason for this is in the shift embedded air bubbles, which partially prevent the sound from passing through and therefore prevent Overall dampening or weakening sound in its overall efficiency.

Furthermore, it is by I. von der Auwera et al. known in sonographic methods u. a. To use petrolatum oil; this publication was published in "ULLMAN REPRODUCTION, (1998 Aug. 13 (8) 2234-7 "(Medline Abstract).

The invention is therefore based on the object of avoiding the disadvantages indicated and for the most efficient and painless use of Propose a suitable coupling agent for sound waves on the living body.

This problem is solved in a surprisingly simple manner in that a coupling agent Mixture of petroleum jelly and petroleum jelly oil according to the characterizing part of patent claim 1 Application comes. This mixture results in the context of the object of the invention a good spreadable substance for quick application or to achieve one accordingly thin layer of the coupling agent.

Practical tests with the coupling agent proposed according to the invention have shown that a mixture of three parts petroleum jelly and one part petroleum jelly oil over all previously known coupling agents work very well both in terms of a noticeable Pain relief as well as regarding the efficiency of those treated with sound waves Patients.

To improve the aroma, an aroma oil can be added to the coupling agent according to the invention become. An example in this context is peach oil, whose Vapors during treatment have a noticeably calming effect on the patient exercise. The selection of the aromatic oil can sometimes also depend on that subjective taste of the patient.

There are essentially three strategies for using the coupling agent according to the invention:

The mixture of the coupling agent according to the invention is in a thin layer on the Ankoppelbalg applied a lithotripter, for example, before this with the Skin area of the patient is brought into contact.
The coupling agent according to the invention becomes thin-layered directly on the patient's skin applied. It has been found that an exposure time of 10 to 30, preferably from 15 to 25 minutes before the start of treatment the effect according to the invention can improve. Furthermore, it can also be useful, in addition, the treatment bellows  concerned device with a thin layer of the coupling agent according to the invention Mistake.
It may also be advantageous to use the coupling means according to the invention only in a thin one Apply a layer to the patient's skin and the device's therapy bellows with a To provide a layer of conventional coupling gel.

To avoid shock wave absorption, all layers of the coupling agent should always be applied very thinly.
