1. A contact type connector for electrically connecting a mating connector as a first connection object and a wiring board as a second connection object to each other, the contact type connector comprising:
An insulating housing having a body portion and an extension portion extending from the body portion in a first direction parallel to a fitting direction of the mating connector;
A plurality of contacts arranged in a second direction perpendicular to the first direction and held by the insulating housing, each contact having a first contact portion for contacting the counterpart connector, the first contact portion being positioned at the extending portion, a holding portion held by the insulating housing, and a second contact portion for contacting the wiring substrate, the second contact portion being opposed to the first contact portion and protruding out of the body portion, the second contact portion being substantially linear and positioned parallel to a plane composed of the first direction and a third direction perpendicular to the first direction and the second direction, the second contact portion being parallel to the third direction or inclined at an angle of 20 degrees or less with respect to the third direction;
A conductive housing surrounding at least the extension of the insulating housing and defining a space for receiving the mating connector; and
An insulating rear cover from which at least a portion of the second contact portion is exposed so as to be in contact with the wiring substrate, the conductive housing being fixed to the insulating rear cover such that the body portion of the insulating housing is sandwiched by the conductive housing and the insulating rear cover;
the insulating rear cover has a contact protecting portion adjacent to the mounting surface of the contact connector, the contact protecting portion shielding at least a portion of each of the plurality of contacts when viewed from the second direction.
2. The contact-type connector of claim 1, further comprising a metal fitting secured to the conductive housing, the metal fitting comprising a pair of flanges parallel to the mounting face, each flange being formed with at least one through hole.
3. The contact-type connector of claim 2, wherein the metal fitting is secured to the conductive housing by welding.
4. The contact-type connector according to claim 1, wherein each contact includes a second elastic arm extending from the body portion of the insulating housing and a bent portion through which the second contact portion is connected with the second elastic arm, the second elastic arm extending toward the mounting surface in the third direction.
5. The contact-type connector of claim 4, wherein the curved portion and a portion of the second contact portion are shielded by the contact protection portion when viewed from the second direction, the portion of the second contact portion being adjacent to the curved portion.
6. The contact-type connector according to any one of claims 1 to 5, further comprising an insulator member accommodated in the insulating rear cover, the insulator member being attached to a distal end portion of each of the plurality of contacts by insert injection molding, the distal end portion continuing from the second contact portion.
7. The contact-type connector according to any one of claims 1 to 5, wherein the conductive housing has a plurality of holding portions extending in the first direction, each holding portion being inserted into a holding hole formed correspondingly to the insulating rear cover in an interference fit manner.
8. The contact-type connector according to any one of claims 1 to 5, wherein the conductive housing is formed with a first stopper portion and a second stopper portion at a rear edge of an upper surface and a rear edge of a lower surface, respectively, and the body portion of the insulating housing is formed with a first recess portion for accommodating the first stopper portion and a second recess portion for accommodating the second stopper portion at the upper edge and the lower edge, respectively.
9. A contact type connector for electrically connecting a mating connector as a first connection object and a wiring substrate as a second connection object to each other, the mating connector being mounted to the contact type connector in a first direction, the contact type connector comprising:
an insulating housing; and
A plurality of contacts arranged in a second direction perpendicular to the first direction and held by the insulating housing, each contact having a first contact portion for contacting the counterpart connector, a holding portion held by the insulating housing, and a second contact portion for contacting the wiring substrate, the second contact portion being linear and positioned parallel to a plane composed of the first direction and a third direction perpendicular to the first direction and the second direction;
Wherein the second contact portion is inclined at an angle of 20 degrees or less with respect to the third direction before the contact-type connector is contacted with the wiring substrate, so that a sufficient contact force is ensured between the second contact portion and the wiring substrate when the contact-type connector is contacted with the wiring substrate.
10. The contact-type connector of claim 9, further comprising an insulator member attached to a distal end portion of each of the plurality of contacts by insert injection molding, the distal end portion continuing from the second contact portion.
