发明内容
本发明的目的是提供一种按布置付费竞价过程,诸如经由因特网,其中,登广告者能够参加拍卖,在许多已由传统媒体中的服务提供者预购买的广告布置中某一布置的拍卖,如根据关键词或其它关注的主题进行分组的分类广告排列版块。

可以采用跟踪消费者响应的各种机制。例如,在一个实施例中,服务提供者拥有许多电话线,如800和877免费号码。然后通过包括在广告里的电话号码将可竞价广告与服务提供者电话线相关联。当向服务提供者电话号码作出呼叫时,跟踪消费者响应。消费者呼叫被发送或转发到关联的登广告者提供的电话号码,并且在关联的登广告者账中记入竞价数额。

本发明提供一种用于在一般媒体中按业绩付费做广告的系统和方法,并能够使用对一个或多个形式的一般媒体的支持来实践。本发明使用的术语按业绩付费广告指这样一类广告布置,其中,登广告者根据所测得的对广告的响应率向服务提供者付费,这与主要基于预期数量广告影响的付费相反。登广告者向服务提供者支付的价格一般由开放拍卖系统确定,其中,许多登广告者彼此竞争地对广告布置竞价。这一广告布置被称为可竞价广告。

图2A和2B中也示出了广告部位可包括web页地址208A和208B,可以重定向到服务器集群140主含的web页。消费者对广告中列出的web页的响应能够由服务器集群140重定向到数据库155中的登广告者的账号中指定的web页。
可选地,在交互式媒体120,如信息站中,消费者能够选择特定的可报价广告来了解更多关于关联的登广告者110提供的产品或服务的信息,或打印关联的折扣赠券。消费者的交互式选择、额外的登广告者内容的递送或赠券的打印能够担当跟踪机制的角色。
参加登广告者110在数据库155中维护账号,其中,登广告者向服务提供者100提交广告清单,以参加可竞价广告。广告清单可包括用于转发消费者响应的电话号码和/或web页、用于包括在动态可竞价广告内的广告内容以及用于向交互地对可竞价广告响应的消费者演示的额外关联广告内容。登广告者的账号也包括用于跟踪消费者对与登广告者关联的广告部位的响应以及用于跟踪对这类响应归于服务提供者的支付总额的账号。
一般而言,可竞价广告部位的数量是有限的,并且较佳地,少于有兴趣参加这一部位的登广告者的数量。因此,用于确定选择和登广告者的顺序的机制是本发明的系统和方法的一个方面。
一般而言,基于对响应广告的竞价数额,选择登广告者110关联到可竞价广告。在一个选择方法中,最高竞价登广告者总是与特定的可竞价广告相关联。在另一方法中,可以在可竞价空间中定义一组可竞价广告,其中,定义了许多其价值按序分级的部位。在这一情况下,登广告者110到排序的部位的关联按最高到最低竞价登广告者的顺序。
在将登广告者与可竞价广告关联的再一方法中,可以使用竞价加权轮换来允许多个竞价登广告者使用单个广告部位。在这一情况下,广告由登广告者在时间上共享,与不同的参加登广告者相关联的影响或响应的频率基于相应的竞价数额。轮换基于参加登广告者的竞价数额,其中,竞价数额越高,参加的水平越高。
基于竞价数额的轮换方法可以被称为竞价加权轮换。可以基于除竞价概览(所测竞价加权轮换)之外的历史轮换数据确定竞价加权轮换,或者可以结合竞价概览(竞价加权随机轮换)被确定为随机事件。当当前轮换超期,确定下一登广告者轮换。可选地,可以在当前轮换超期之前确定下一轮换。例如,可以基于对广告的当前竞价概览就预定数量的轮换,如下一100个轮换计算出调度表。然而,由于竞价可以实时执行,这一在前确定可因竞价变化而变得不准确。因此,较佳的是在当前轮换超期之后再作出确定。
轮换的超期可以是基于时间或基于响应或选择。对于包括登广告者特定内容的可竞价广告,基于时间的超期较佳,因为包括的登广告者的内容将参加提供为时间的函数。对于完全由服务提供者100定义且没有登广告者特定内容的可竞价广告,基于响应或选择的超期较佳,因为这是这类广告中参加度的最准确测量。根据可竞价广告运行的时间的长度以及期望的轮换速率,在每一轮换中可限制参加的登广告者的数量
图4A描述了对登广告者402、404、406、408的示例性可竞价广告竞价概览,每一登广告者具有一竞价数额,分别为410、412、414和416。确定对每一登广告者的目标参加百分比水平,它等于登广告者的竞价数额除以全部参加登广告者总竞价数额再乘以100%。在本示例中,竞价的总额为$1.00。由此,在竞价数额和目标参加水平之间有一简单的相关性。登广告者402、404、406和408分别具有参加水平418、420、422和424。
在参加登广告者中轮换可以基于过往轮换中的参加情况的测量。对于所测轮换,每一登广告者参加轮换次数的计数由服务提供者100维护。所有登广告者在轮换中的次数的总计数可通过将个别的计数相加来维护或计算。每次当当前轮换超期时,服务器100通过由计数指示的实际参加水平确定是否达到一个或多个登广告者的目标参加水平。参加水平以从具有最高目标水平的登广告者开始到最低目标水平的顺序检查并予以满足。这一顺序基于参加水平向轮换中的登广告者提供了优先级。当两个或更多登广告者具有相同的竞价数额,顺序能够反应每一登广告者维护其当前竞价的时间长度,其中,首先检查具有最长竞价持续时间的登广告者。
图4B所示是对图4A所示的竞价概览,一组八个轮换426、428、430、432、434、436、438和440的结果的表。在第一轮换426之前,还没有登广告者处于轮换中。由此,尚未达到最高竞价登广告者402的目标水平(40%),并且第一轮换426分配给登广告者A1。对于第二轮换428,首先测量最高竞价登广告者402的实际和目标参加水平。登广告者402具有一个部位的总计数中的一个部位的计数,因此具有100%的实际水平,满足关联的40%的目标水平418。然后检查下一最高竞价登广告者404的参加水平。由于登广告者404未被呈现,该登广告者具有0%的参加水平,而其目标水平420为27%。因此,第二轮换428分配给登广告者404。

对于第四轮换432,首先检查最高竞价登广告者的参加水平,并确定实际水平33.3%,而目标水平418为40%。因此第四轮换432分配给登广告者402。继续这一过程,轮换434、436、438和440分别分配给404、406、402和408,由此形成了八个轮换。此时的计算显示了登广告者402、404、406和408的实际水平分别为37.5%、25.0%、25.0%和12.5%,而目标水平分别为40%、27%、23%和10%。在出现大量轮换之后,实际水平和目标水平之间的差异变小。所有的目标水平都能够由关联的实际水平满足,在这一实例中,轮换可以判给最高竞价登广告者。
在竞价加权轮换中,较高的竞价数额导致较高的部位频率。在纯粹按业绩付费模型中,不论竞价数额如何,登广告者不为广告印象支付费用,除非接收广告印象的消费者对该广告做出响应。然而,如果可竞价广告是动态或交互式的,并包括登广告者特定内容,可以向登广告者征收第一费用,如竞价数额的一部分,用于呈现广告,而在广告被响应时向登广告者征收完整的竞价数额。
可以考虑上述讨论提供的顺序之外的检查顺序,只要该方法在实际水平和目标水平之间提供充分的收敛。此外,上述用于所测轮换的方法具有基于竞价数额提供参加水平的优先级检查顺序的优点。
可以允许一个新的登广告者加入正在进行的轮换中。在这一情况下,当新的登广告者建立竞价,对每一参加的登广告者,包括该新的登广告者计算新的目标水平,并且将该新的登广告者添加到轮换中。可以向该登广告者分配计数。可以选择这一计数来建立与登广告者的目标水平接近的实际参加水平。可选地,新的登广告者可采用目标参加水平的顺序中与其相邻的登广告者之一的计数。如果维护单独的总计数,则按分配给新的登广告者的计数来向上调节。
当在轮换过程中现有登广告者移除竞价时,对剩余的登广告者计算新的参加水平,移除竞价的登广告者被从轮换中移除,删除相关的计数,并且如果维护单独的总计数,按删除的计数来向下调节。当竞价改变,可以看作对改变竞价的登广告者在移除竞价之后添加新的竞价。
周期性地,当计数变大时,可以将其按比例缩小。例如,当总计数超过10,000或某一其它预定的阈值,所有计数可除以100或某一其它预定的约数。
在上述测得轮换方法中,将参加水平乘以100个百分点来将其表示为百分比的步骤不是必须的,但是在描述该方法中是有用的。
作为对测得轮换的替代,也可以使用随机轮换的方法,应用随机数发生器作为用来选择当前轮换的随机事件。由此,服务提供者不需要维护参加的登广告者的历史计数来确定轮换。缩放随机数生成器的范围等于对竞价登广告者的竞价的总和的范围。然后对每一登广告者分配对其竞价数额成比例的缩放范围的子集。选择占用缩放的随机数落入其中的子集的登广告者用于轮换。图4C示出了对图4A的竞价概览的范围分配,对登广告者402、404、406和408分别具有一组绝对范围指示442、444、446和448,以及一组相对范围分配450、452、454和456。对于1和40之间的缩放的随机数,选择登广告者402,并由范围分配450指示。对于41和67之间的缩放的随机数,选择登广告者404,并由范围分配452指示。对于68和90之间的缩放的随机数,选择登广告者406,并由范围分配454指示。最后,对于91和100之间的缩放的随机数,选择登广告者408,并由范围分配456指示。
随机轮换的一个替代方法也使用缩放到竞价的总额的随机数生成器。在这一替代方法中,随机数生成器的绝对范围基于相应的竞价数额被分配给参加的登广告者。绝对范围在大小上从最大到最小排列,并且每次从缩放的随机数减去1,直到结果为负或零。与导致负或零结果的绝对范围关联的登广告者是为轮换选择的登广告者。可选地,可以从缩放的随机数中减去绝对范围,直到下一绝对范围大于剩余的缩放随机数。与下一绝对范围关联的登广告者是为轮换选择的登广告者。
不需要按从最大到最小的顺序对绝对竞价范围排序并作减法。然而,这一方法具有好处,因为对每一连续的算术操作对缩放的随机数的总范围尽可能迅速地遍历。

在作出频道内的竞价的变化之后,登广告者可以选择提交竞价变化按钮634来更新频道竞价。选择清除竞价变化按钮636之后,尚未对显示的频道提交的竞价变化将被清除,并且变化的竞价设置返回到其先前的设置。状态变化链接638和640能够用来分别离线获得显示的频道602和显示的清单606,借此禁用关联的竞价。批准清单分类变化链接642能够用来移除分类并提交新的清单分类用于批准。也可以选择显示的清单606来访问屏幕以移除或提交新的分类。另外,可以通过选择显示的清单606来修改清单的其它方面,如修改关联的内容或登广告者电话号码。
竞价管理屏幕600也可以许可登广告者通过选择过滤器设置链接644过滤可用广告来按限制或许可的内容察看广告。例如,一些广告可能有禁止成人内容的限制。一些广告可能不限制在一个分类上。登广告者可以使用开/关设置646开启或关闭过滤器设置。
过快出现的变化对察看广告的消费者来说是混乱的。而且,在消费者察看广告与对其做出响应之间存在反应时间。响应在察看该广告之后变化的广告的消费者可能不被发送到期望的登广告者。使用较低频率(较长最小时间)变化的广告将导致对已变化的广告的响应实例减少。为解决这种关切,可以对动态和交互式媒体指定最小发布时间,来防止响应于登广告者竞价变化的可竞价广告内容中过快的变化。减少这类对变化的广告的响应的数量的另一方法是在广告变化之后维护响应机制、电话线、web页等等,持续一段时间即保留时间。最小广告时间和保留时间可以包括在察看广告细节链接620中。在接受登广告者竞价之前,服务器能确定登广告者的账号是否具有足够的资金来满足对广告的估计响应水平,持续与该广告关联的任何最小和保留时间的持续时间。
为帮助确认响应被定向到正确的广告,电信交换台160能够响应于消费者电话响应提供语音消息来指示与呼叫的电话号码关联的当前广告或广告分类。电信交换台160还能够提示从消费者的输入来指示这是否是期望的广告分类。如果消费者指示当前广告分类非所需,则电信交换台160能够将该呼叫发送到基于操作员或基于语音识别的指引特征。消费者能够指示其期望的广告分类并被发送到与匹配的分类描述符关联的登广告者。也能够为对web页地址的响应实现类似的指引特征。服务提供者能启用登广告者在这类指引的描述符上的竞价。对登广告者为每一指引征收竞价数额。登广告者可以基于最高竞价者或按照竞价加权轮换与指引描述符相关联。
当登广告者账号中的资金耗尽时也可以使用上述指引方法,使他们无法再覆盖关联的竞价数额。可以通知消费者与他们的响应关联的广告不再活跃,然后向消费者提供指引服务。

如果消费者响应交互式广告,则服务提供者100如通过因特网105从消费者所在的交互式媒体120接受交互式响应(步骤914),并且出现服务器140和消费者之间的交互式会话。典型的交互式会话可包括对关于产品或服务的更多信息的请求、对折扣赠券的请求、到零售商位置的定向等等。交互式会话也可包括对产品或服务的购买。
服务器140然后在数据库155的登广告者表502和频道资金表512所包含的登广告者账号中记入关联的竞价数额,并用于发布可竞价广告的关联的频道(步骤918),过程在步骤920终止。如果在步骤912消费者未响应广告,则过程返回到步骤904。
本发明也可应用到不具有对消费者响应的跟踪机制的可竞价广告。例如,登广告者可以基于可竞价广告的属性,如尺寸、印出质量、部位、日期时间等等,以及预期的响应水平来进行竞价。在该实施例中,不需要采用消费者响应跟踪机制来产生按业绩付费广告特征。
这里结合较佳实施例描述了本发明。可以理解,这里提供了详细的揭示,本领域的计数人员能够想像如何使用替换实施例及其变化来实践本发明。这些变化在由所附权利要求书所定义的本发明的范围之内。
Claims (25)
1.一种提供广告服务的方法,其特征在于,它包括:
定义至少一个可竞价广告用于在广告媒体中演示;
设立在对所述至少一个可竞价广告有响应时可向参加登广告者征收的竞价数额;
基于所述竞价数额将所述至少一个可竞价广告与参加登广告者相关联;
接收对所述可竞价广告的响应;
向所述关联的参加登广告者提供所述响应;以及
基于所述竞价数额在所述响应时向与所述可竞价广告关联的所述参加登广告者收费。
2.如权利要求1所述的提供广告服务的方法,其特征在于,所述广告媒体是静态媒体,且定义至少一个可竞价广告的所述步骤包括在所述广告中提供一查询标识符。
3.如权利要求2所述的提供广告服务的方法,其特征在于,所述查询标识符是服务提供者的电话号码,并且其中,将所述至少一个可竞价广告与所述参加登广告者关联的所述步骤包括将所述服务提供者的电话号码映射到所述参加登广告者的电话号码。
4.如权利要求3所述的提供广告服务的方法,其特征在于,所述至少一个可竞价广告包括在静态媒体中排列的多个可竞价广告布置,每一所述可竞价广告布置具有一所述服务提供者的独特的电话号码。
5.如权利要求4所述的提供广告服务的方法,其特征在于,所述多个可竞价广告布置具有不同的值,并且将所述可竞价广告关联到参加登广告者的所述步骤还包括依照多个参加登广告者的竞价数额按值的顺序关联所述多个广告布置。
6.如权利要求2所述的提供广告服务的方法,其特征在于,所述查询标识符是服务提供者的网络地址,并且其中,将所述至少一个可竞价广告与所述参加登广告者关联的所述步骤包括将所述服务提供者的网络地址映射到与所述参加登广告者关联的网络地址。
7.如权利要求1所述的提供广告服务的方法,其特征在于,定义所述至少一个可竞价广告的步骤包括插入与所述可竞价广告关联的所述参加登广告者指定的内容。
8.如权利要求7所述的提供广告服务的方法,其特征在于,所述广告媒体是交互式的,并且其中,由所述参加登广告者指定的所述内容至少部分地通过响应所述可竞价广告一方提供的输入来确定。
9.如权利要求1所述的提供广告服务的方法,其特征在于,将所述至少一个可竞价广告与参加登广告者关联的所述步骤还包括多个参加登广告者中的竞价加权轮换,其中,每一所述参加登广告者的参加水平由相应的竞价数额确定。
10.如权利要求9所述的提供广告服务的方法,其特征在于,所述竞价加权轮换根据所测所述多个参加登广告者的轮换将所述多个登广告者之一与可竞价广告关联。
11.如权利要求9所述的提供广告服务的方法,其特征在于,所述竞价加权轮换基于所述多个参加登广告者的随机轮换将所述多个登广告者之一与可竞价广告关联。
12.一种静态媒体中按业绩付费做广告的方法,其特征在于,它包括:
在静态媒体中发布多个可竞价广告,每一所述可竞价广告在其中包括一查询标识符;
在参加登广告者中提供可竞价广告的拍卖,其中,所述参加登广告者提供可为对所述可竞价广告的响应付费的竞价数额;
至少部分基于所述竞价数额将参加登广告者与所述可竞价广告关联;
维护参加登广告者数据库,所述参加登广告者数据库具有登广告者账号、广告清单、与所述广告清单关联的竞价数额、对所述参加登广告者的查询路由信息的记录;
使用所述查询标识符从响应所述可竞价广告的至少一个的消费者接收查询;
确定哪一参加登广告者与所述被响应的可竞价广告关联,并使用与所述参加登广告者关联的所述查询路由信息发送所述查询;
在向其发送所述查询的所述参加登广告者的登广告者账号中记入所述竞价数额。
13.如权利要求12所述的提供广告服务的方法,其特征在于,所述查询标识符是服务提供者的电话号码,并且其中,将至少一个可竞价广告与参加登广告者关联的所述步骤包括将所述服务提供者的电话号码映射到所述参加登广告者的电话号码。
14.如权利要求13所述的提供广告服务的方法,其特征在于,所述至少一个可竞价广告包括在静态媒体中排列的多个可竞价广告布置,每一所述可竞价广告布置具有所述服务提供者的独特的电话号码。
15.如权利要求14所述的提供广告服务的方法,其特征在于,所述多个可竞价广告布置具有不同的值,并且将所述可竞价广告关联到所述参加登广告者的步骤还包括依照多个参加登广告者的竞价数额按值的顺序关联所述多个广告布置。
16.如权利要求12所述的提供广告服务的方法,其特征在于,所述查询标识符是服务提供者的网络地址,并且其中,将所述至少一个可竞价广告与所述参加登广告者关联的所述步骤包括将所述服务提供者的网络地址映射到所述参加的登广告者的网络地址。
17.如权利要求12所述的提供广告服务的方法,其特征在于,将所述至少一个可竞价广告与参加登广告者关联的所述步骤还包括多个参加登广告者中的竞价加权轮换,其中,每一所述参加登广告者的参加水平由所述相应的竞价数额确定。
18.如权利要求17所述的提供广告服务的方法,其特征在于,所述竞价加权轮换基于所测所述多个参加登广告者轮换将所述多个登广告者之一与可竞价广告关联。
19.如权利要求17所述的提供广告服务的方法,其特征在于,所述竞价加权轮换基于所述多个参加登广告者的随机轮换将所述多个登广告者之一与可竞价广告关联。
20.一种按业绩付费广告系统中管理对广告布置的响应的计算机系统,其特征在于,它包括:
一电信交换系统,所述电信交换系统具有至少一个电话线用于接收对至少一个广告布置的响应;
一计算机服务器,所述计算机服务器可操作地耦合到可由登广告者访问的计算机网络,所述计算机服务器在计算机可读媒质中维护数据库,所述数据库在其中包括多个登广告者账号清单,每一账号清单包括可为对广告布置的响应付费的竞价数额、响应路由数据以及响应记录,所述计算机服务器可操作地耦合到所述电信交换系统,并适用于从其接收响应、及通过其利用与被响应的所述广告布置相关联的所述响应路由数据发送所述响应。
21.一种用于按业绩付费的广告系统的计算机服务器,其特征在于,所述计算机服务器包括:
在计算机可读媒质中维护的一数据库,所述数据库在其中包括多个登广告者账号清单,每一账号清单包括可为对广告布置的响应付费的竞价数额、响应路由数据以及响应记录;
一处理器,所述处理器被编程以:
建立在对所述至少一个可竞价广告有响应时可向参加登广告者征收的竞价数额;
基于所建立的竞价数额将所述至少一个可竞价广告与参加登广告者关联;
接收对所述可竞价广告的响应;
依照所述数据库中的所述响应路由数据向所述关联的参加登广告者提供所述响应;以及
依照所述竞价数额在所述响应时更新所述关联的参加登广告者的响应记录。
22.如权利要求21所述的计算机服务器,其特征在于,用于建立竞价数额的所述处理器操作还包括在多个登广告者中对所述可竞价广告执行拍卖。
23.如权利要求21所述的计算机服务器,其特征在于,将所述至少一个可竞价广告与参加登广告者关联的所述处理器操作还包括在多个参加登广告者中的竞价加权轮换,其中,每一所述参加登广告者的参加水平由所述相应的竞价数额确定。
24.如权利要求23所述的计算机服务器,其特征在于,所述竞价加权轮换基于所测所述多个参加登广告者的轮换将所述多个登广告者之一与可竞价广告关联。
25.如权利要求23所述的计算机服务器,其特征在于,所述竞价加权轮换基于所述多个参加登广告者的随机轮换将所述多个登广告者之一与可竞价广告关联。
