Abstract

To provide an entertainment system to computer,a portable computer is provided with a multi-media entertainment system wherein all hardware including electronic circuits and other components for the entertainment system are fully integrated in a notebook computer. The invention integrates television electronics , AM/FM radio circuits, a CD- ROM (compact disk-read only memory) drive, miniaturized 8-mm VCRinto a notebook computer, such as an IBM Thinkpad 750C computer. Software running on the notebook computer provides a graphical user interface wherein the user can use a key stroke, mouse, or track point to tune to different channels or adjust the volume, brightness, contrast, or play, stop/eject, fast-forward, pause, and rewind using icons which mimic controls that might be found on a conventional television, radio, VCR or CD-ROM drive.
