Description
Technical Field
The invention relates to the technical field of mosquito repelling and killing, in particular to a composition and application thereof in repelling and killing insects.
Background
Mosquito bites are not only a nuisance, but can even seriously harm human health, such as the transmission of dysentery, dengue fever, yellow fever, lyme disease, Zika virus or West Nile virus caused by mosquito bites.
The active ingredient in most commercial insect repellents (insecticides) is DEET (mosquito repellant amine, N-diethyl-3-methylbenzamide), which can cope with a variety of mosquito bites, but DEET has the following disadvantages: 1) DEET is easy to be absorbed by human skin, and has health risk; 2) DEET produces an unpleasant odor; 3) when DEET is applied to the skin, stinging is felt.
Disclosure of Invention
In order to solve the problems that the existing insect repellents all use DEET as an active ingredient, the DEET is easy to be absorbed by skin and has health risks, and the DEET is stabbing and painful when being applied to the skin, the invention aims to provide a composition which adopts natural ingredients, has good insect repellent effect and small irritation; therefore, the invention also provides the application of the composition in preparing insect repellents and insecticides.
In order to achieve the purpose, the invention adopts the following technical scheme:
in a first aspect of the invention, there is provided a composition comprising citral, citronellol, citronellal, and vanillin; wherein the mass ratio of the citronellol to the citronellal to the citral is (2-10): 1.
Citral is naturally present in lemongrass oil, lemon oil, lime oil, citrus oil, litsea cubeba oil, and verbena oil.
The citronellol is derived from leaf of Murraya koenigii of Rutaceae, whole plant of Dracocephalum moldavica of Labiatae, Narcissus tazetta of Amaryllidaceae, strobilus Juniperi of Cupressaceae, fresh flower of Rosa rugosa of Rosaceae, leaf of Eucalyptus citriodora of Myrtaceae, and seed of Daucus carota of Umbelliferae.
Vanillin is present in beet, vanilla bean, benzoin gum, Peru balsam, Tuolu balsam.
Citronellal, found in citronella oil or eucalyptus oil.
The citral, citronellol, citronellal and vanillin are all natural ingredients, are mild and have little irritation, and are safer to use compared with chemically synthesized ingredients.
Wherein the mass ratio of vanillin, citronellol and citronellal in the composition is 1 (1-5) to 1-5.
Preferably, the composition consists of citral, citronellol, vanillin, mineral oil, ethanol, dipropylene glycol, isocyanate and an acetate-based fragrance, wherein the amount of each of citronellol and citronellol is less than 20 wt.%, the amount of the acetate-based fragrance is less than 20 wt.%, the amount of mineral oil is less than 20 wt.%, the amount of vanillin is less than 15 wt.%, and the total amount of citral, citronellol and citronellal is 5 wt.% to 50 wt.%.
Wherein, the isocyanate is selected from lauryl sulfate and sodium cocoyl sulfate, and the acetate perfume is selected from linalyl acetate or benzyl acetate.
Preferably, the composition further comprises a fragrance, a solvent, a diluent and a fixative.
Wherein, the aromatic is selected from linalyl acetate or benzyl acetate.
Wherein, the solvent is mineral oil.
Wherein, the diluent is selected from any one of water, acetone and ethanol.
Wherein, the fixing agent is sodium cocoanut alcohol sulfate.
The compositions of the present invention may be formulated as a lotion, fluid cream, gel, aerosol or spray.
The composition of the present invention, is primarily applied to topical skin to protect exposed skin from being bitten by mosquitoes. In use, a small quantity of the composition, for example 0.1 to 5 ml, is applied to the exposed area of skin from a suitable container or applicator and, if desired, is then spread over the skin using the hands or fingers or a suitable device.
In a second aspect of the invention, there is provided the use of a composition as described above in the preparation of an insect repellent or insecticide.
Compared with the prior art, the invention has the following beneficial effects: the composition is compounded by citral, citronellol, citronellal and vanillin, so that the insect-repelling effect is excellent, and the average effective insect-repelling time is longer than 6 h; the composition of the invention adopts natural components, avoids the harm of chemical synthetic components to human body, and is safer to use.
