A surface cleaning apparatus (10) comprising: a water storage container (12); a steam generator (20) comprising a heating element (20); a pump (30) for supplying water from the water storage container (12) to the steam generator (20); and a fluid passage (42) for guiding steam from the steam generator (20) to a cleaning head (55) of the appliance (10).
