技术领域
本发明的各种实施方式涉及增塑剂和增塑的聚合物组合物。
技术背景
增塑剂是加入到聚合物树脂的化合物或化合物的混合物,可降低所述树脂(通常为热塑性聚合物)的模量和抗张强度,并增加所述树脂的韧性,伸长率,冲击强度,和撕裂强度。增塑剂还可以降低聚合物树脂的玻璃化转变温度,从而提高聚合物树脂的加工性。
邻苯二甲酸二酯(也被称为“邻苯二甲酸酯”)通常在许多弹性聚合物产品(如聚氯乙烯(“PVC”)和其他乙烯基聚合物形成的聚合物产品)中用作增塑剂。邻苯二甲酸酯增塑剂的例子包括二异壬酯,邻苯二甲酸二烯丙基酯,邻苯二甲酸二-2-乙基己基酯,邻苯二甲酸二辛酯,和二异癸酯。
邻苯二甲酸酯类增塑剂最近受到公益团体的密切关注,关注邻苯二甲酸盐对环境的负面影响和人类接触邻苯二甲酸酯中潜在的不良健康影响。因此,期望合适的替代邻苯二甲酸酯的增塑剂。
发明概述
一个实施方式是一种增塑的聚氯乙烯组合物,它包括:
(a)氯乙烯类树脂;和
(b)增塑剂,其包括:
(ⅰ)丁二酸酯,和
(ⅱ)环氧化天然油,
其中,当所述增塑剂的存在量为基于100重量份的氯乙烯树脂,每百份树脂含52份时,按ASTM D2240测定,所述增塑的聚氯乙烯组合物具有小于30的肖氏D硬度,
其中,当在100℃下老化168小时时,按ASTM D638测定,所述增塑的聚氯乙烯组合物具有至少30%的拉伸伸长保持率(tensile elongationretention)。
详细说明
本发明的各种实施方式涉及包括丁二酸酯和环氧化天然油的增塑剂。这些增塑剂任选地也可包括环氧化脂肪酸烷基酯。此类增塑剂可掺入聚合物树脂,以形成增塑的聚合物组合物,其相应地可用于制造各种制品。
增塑剂
本公开提供一种包含丁二酸酯和环氧化天然油的增塑剂。在一个实施方式中,所述增塑剂不含邻苯二甲酸酯,或没有或基本上没有邻苯二甲酸酯。
增塑剂中的丁二酸酯组分可以是任何已知的或此后发现的丁二酸酯。在一个实施方式中,所述丁二酸酯是二烷基丁二酸酯,其中每个烷基独立地选自饱和或不饱和的,支链的,直链的,或环状的C1至C13(即,具有1至13个碳原子)的烷基。本文所用的术语“烷基”是指通过从烃除去一个氢原子而形成的一价基团。在各种不同的实施方式中,丁二酸酯可以是二烷基丁二酸酯的混合物,其中至少25摩尔%(“摩尔%”),至少50摩尔%,至少75摩尔%,基本上所有的或所有的烷基具有8至13个碳原子。该实施方式的烷基可以是饱和的,并且可以是支链或直链的。合适的二烷基丁二酸酯的非限制性实例包括双(2-乙基己基)丁二酸酯,二辛基丁二酸酯,二壬基丁二酸酯,二异壬基丁二酸酯,二癸基丁二酸酯,二异癸基丁二酸酯,二(十一烷基)丁二酸酯,二(异十一烷基)丁二酸酯,二(十二烷基)丁二酸酯,二(异十二烷基)丁二酸酯,二(十三烷基)丁二酸酯,二(异十三烷基)丁二酸酯,或两种或多种它们的混合物。在一个或多个实施方式中,所述丁二酸酯是二(2-乙基己基)丁二酸酯。丁二酸酯(例如,双(2-乙基己基)丁二酸酯)均可购自Myriant Technologies,LLC。
本发明的增塑剂还包括环氧化天然油(“eNO”)。本文所使用的“天然油”,是一种脂肪酸甘油三酯组成的油且是衍生自微生物(藻类,细菌),植物/蔬菜,和/或种子。在一个实施方式中,天然油包括遗传改性的天然油。在各种实施方式中,天然油不包括石油衍生的油。合适的天然油的非限制性实例包括牛脂油,低芥酸菜籽油,蓖麻油,玉米油,鱼油,亚麻子油,棕榈油,菜子油,红花油,大豆油,向日葵油,妥尔油,桐油,及它们的任何组合。
如本文所用的术语“环氧化天然油”,是一种天然油,其中至少一个脂肪酸部分含有至少一个环氧基团。环氧化可以通过常规的方法来进行,典型地通过天然油和过氧化物,过羧酸,和/或其它过氧化合物反应的方法,通常在酸或碱催化剂的存在下进行。
合适的eNO的非限制性的例子包括环氧化海藻油,环氧化牛脂油,环氧化菜籽油,环氧化蓖麻油,环氧化玉米油,环氧化鱼油,环氧化亚麻子油,环氧化棕榈油,环氧化菜籽油,环氧化红花油,环氧化豆油,环氧化向日葵油,环氧化妥尔油,环氧化桐油,以及它们的任意组合。
在一个实施方式中,环氧化天然油为环氧化大豆油(“eSO”)。
合适的可商购的环氧化天然油的实例包括PLAS-CHEKTM775环氧化大豆油,购自Ferro Corp.,Mayfield Heights,OH,USA;VIKOFLEXTM7170环氧化大豆油,和VIKOFLEXTM7190环氧化亚麻籽油,均可以购自Arkema Inc.,Philadelphia,PA,USA。
在一个实施方式中,所述增塑剂包含的丁二酸酯的量为10至50重量%(“重量%”),或从30至50重量%,基于整个增塑剂的重量。在进一步的实施方式中,增塑剂包含的eNO的量为50~90%重量,或50%至70%(重量),基于全部增塑剂的重量。因此,在各种实施方式中,可以存在的所述丁二酸酯和所述eNO的重量比为9:1至1:1,或从7:3至1:1,eNO:丁二酸酯。在一个或多个实施方式中,增塑剂由丁二酸酯和eNO组成或基本由丁二酸酯和eNO组成。
如上所述,该增塑剂可以任选地进一步含有环氧化脂肪酸烷基酯(“eFAAE”),例如环氧化脂肪酸甲基酯。市售的eFAAEs的非限制性实例包括VIKOFLEXTM7010,VIKOFLEXTM7040,VIKOFLEXTM7080,VIKOFLEXTM9010,VIKOFLEXTM9040和VIKOFLEXTM9080(Arkema Inc.,Philadelphia,PA,USA的产品)。在使用这样的三组分增塑剂的情况下,所述eFAAE可以存在的量为大于0直到30重量%,基于总的增塑剂的重量,同时保持上述eNO:丁二酸酯的比率。
聚合物组合物
本公开内容提供了一种聚合物组合物,其包括聚合物树脂和上述增塑剂。
合适的聚合物树脂的非限制性实例包括聚硫化物,聚氨酯,丙烯酸类,表氯醇,丁腈橡胶,氯磺化聚乙烯,氯化聚乙烯,聚氯丁二烯,苯乙烯丁二烯橡胶,天然橡胶,合成橡胶,乙烯-丙烯-二烯单体橡胶,基于丙烯的聚合物,基于乙烯的聚合物,和氯乙烯树脂。术语“基于丙烯的聚合物”表示一种聚合物,其包括大于50重量%的聚合的丙烯单体(基于可聚合单体的总量),和任选的至少一种聚合的共聚单体。术语“基于乙烯的聚合物”表示一种聚合物,其包括大于50重量%的聚合的乙烯单体(基于可聚合单体的总重量)和任选至少一种聚合的共聚单体。
术语“氯乙烯树脂”是指氯乙烯聚合物,如聚氯乙烯(“PVC”),或氯乙烯共聚物,如氯乙烯/乙酸乙烯酯共聚物,氯乙烯/偏氯乙烯共聚物,氯乙烯/乙烯共聚物,或通过接枝氯乙烯到乙烯/醋酸乙烯酯共聚物上制备的共聚物。所述氯乙烯树脂也可包括上述的氯乙烯聚合物或氯乙烯共聚物与其它混溶或相容的聚合物(包括但不限于,氯化聚乙烯,热塑性聚氨酯,烯烃聚合物如甲基丙烯酸聚合物或丙烯腈-丁二烯-苯乙烯聚合物)的聚合物共混物。
在一个实施方式中,所述氯乙烯树脂是PVC。
在一个实施方式中,所述聚合物组合物包括含量范围为20至90重量%,30至85重量%,40至80重量%,或52至61重量%的聚合物树脂,基于全部聚合物组合物的重量。在各种实施方式中,所述聚合物组合物包含上述增塑剂的含量为10至80重量%,15至70重量%,20至60重量%,或30至44重量%,基于全部聚合物组合物的重量。
在各种实施方式中,所述聚合物组合物具有小于30,小于29,或小于28的肖氏D硬度,通过ASTM D2240测定。在这样的实施方式中,所述聚合物组合物可以具有最小25的肖氏D硬度。在其他实施方式中,所述聚合物组合物的肖氏A硬度小于95,小于90,小于86或小于85,通过ASTMD2240测定。在这样的实施方式中,所述聚合物组合物可以具有最小82肖氏A硬度。肖氏硬度(A和D)是基于100份重量的所述聚合物树脂,在每百份树脂(“phr”)含52份增塑剂下测定。
在各种实施方式中,所述聚合物组合物在100℃下,113℃下和/或136℃下加热老化168小时或240小时后,拉伸伸长保持率(“TER”)为至少30%,至少40%,至少50%,至少60%,或至少70%,通过ASTM D638测定。聚合物组合物的热老化是按照在以下测试方法部分描述的步骤进行的。TER可以基于具有52phr增塑剂添加量的聚合物组合物来测定。
在各种实施方式中,所述聚合物组合物在100℃下,113℃下和/或136℃下加热老化168小时或240小时后,拉伸强度保持率(“TSR”)为至少100%,至少110%,至少115%,至少120%,或至少125%,通过ASTM D638测定。TSR可以基于具有52phr增塑剂添加量的聚合物组合物来测定。
在各种实施方式中,所述聚合物组合物在100℃下,113℃下和/或136℃下加热老化168小时或240小时后,重量保持率为至少75%,至少80%,至少85%,或至少90%。重量保持率可以基于具有52phr增塑剂添加量的聚合物组合物来测定。
添加剂
所述聚合物组合物可以包括一种或多种以下任选的添加剂:填料,阻燃剂,热稳定剂,抗滴落剂,着色剂,润滑剂,低分子量聚乙烯,受阻胺光稳定剂,紫外线吸收剂,固化剂,增压剂,阻燃剂,加工助剂,偶联剂,抗静电剂,成核剂,滑爽剂,粘度控制剂,增粘剂,抗粘连剂,表面活性剂,增量油,除酸剂,金属钝化剂,和它们的任意组合。
在一个实施方式中,所述聚合物组合物包含热稳定剂。合适的热稳定剂的非限制性实例包括无铅的金属皂,铅稳定剂,有机类热稳定剂,环氧化合物,一元羧酸的盐,酚类抗氧化剂,有机亚磷酸酯和/或β二酮。在一个实施方式中,所使用的热稳定剂是一种无铅混合金属皂。术语“金属皂”表示酸与金属的盐。适合使用的金属皂包括脂肪酸的锌盐(例如,硬脂酸锌),脂肪酸的钙盐,脂肪酸的钡盐,脂肪酸的镁盐,脂肪酸的锡盐,以及它们的两种或更多种的混合物。热稳定剂可以存在于聚合物组合物中的含量范围为0.2至10重量%,0.4至7重量%,或0.6至5重量%,基于整个聚合物组合物的重量。
在一个实施方式中,所述聚合物组合物包括PVC,本发明的增塑剂,填料(例如,碳酸钙,粘土,二氧化硅和它们的任意组合),一种或多种金属皂稳定剂,酚或其它抗氧化剂,和加工助剂。
涂层导体
本公开提供了一种涂覆导体。所述涂覆导体包括导体和导体上的涂层,所述涂层至少部分地由上述的聚合物组合物形成。
本文所使用的“导体”,是一个或多个用于传导热,光,和/或电的线或纤维。该导体可以是单丝/纤维或多丝/纤维,可以是丝状或管状的形式。“线”指的单股导电金属或单股光纤。合适的导体的非限制性实例包括金属,如银,金,铜,碳,和铝。该导体也可以是由玻璃或塑料制成的光纤。
所述涂覆导体可以是柔性的,半刚性的或刚性的。所述涂层(也被称为“护套”,“鞘”或“绝缘层”),可以直接位于导体上或包围所述导体的另一层上。
在一个实施方式中,所述涂覆导体是电缆。“电缆”和“电力电缆”是指位于护套内的至少一根电线或光纤。通常,电缆是结合在一起的两个或更多导线或光纤,典型地在一个共同的绝缘覆盖物和/或保护性护套内。护套内的每根电线或纤维可以是裸露的,涂覆的或绝缘的。组合缆线可以同时包含电线和光纤。该电缆可以设计为低,中,和/或高电压应用。典型的电缆设计记载在USP 5246783,6496629和6714707中。
在一个实施方式中,电缆是60℃,75℃,80℃,90℃,或105℃的额定电缆,根据Underwriters Laboratories(“UL”)标准83和1581。
测试方法
邵氏硬度
根据ASTM D2240,使用250密耳(6.35毫米)厚的模塑试样测定肖氏(A和D)硬度。
拉伸性能
根据ASTM D638,以2英寸每分钟的位移速率,用从30密耳(0.762毫米)厚的成型板上切割的IV型狗骨形试样,来测定未老化和热老化样品的拉伸强度,拉伸伸长率,和正割模量(secant modulus)。
体积电阻率
根据ASTM D257,用500伏直流电测定体积电阻率(欧姆·厘米,23℃)。采用从40密耳(1.016毫米)厚的成型板上切割3.5英寸(8.89厘米)直径的样本和使用连接到Hewlett Packard 4329A高电阻表的Hewlett Packard16008A电阻池。
动态储能模量(G')
使用TA Instrument AR1000N流变仪在扭转模式下通过动态力学分析来测定动态储能模量,所述测试在从40密耳(1.016毫米)厚度的成型板上切割的40毫米长,13毫米宽长方体形式的样品上进行。在-100℃至160℃的温度范围内以5℃/分钟的升温速率改变温度,保持测试频率恒定在6.283弧度/秒(1赫兹)。测量所述储能模量,损耗模量,以及作为温度的函数的tanδ。
循环喷出(增塑剂的兼容性)
按照ASTM D3291测量循环喷出。
重量保持
采用从30密耳(0.762毫米)厚的模塑板切割的1.25英寸(3.715厘米)直径的试样,在高温下经过不同天数后,测量重量保持,以百分比表示。
热老化
使用Type II ASTM D5423-93测试机械对流炉(convection oven)进行拉伸率和重量保持率样品(上述的几何形状)的热老化。
实施例
实施例1和比较例1-4
在下列实施例中,所使用的PVC是OXYVINYLSTM240F(OccidentalChemical Corporation,Dallas,TX,USA),填料是SATINTONETM的SP-33粘土(BASF Corporation,Florham Park,NJ,USA),热稳定剂是钙/锌金属皂固体,名称为BAEROPANTM MC90249KA(Baerlocher USA,Dover,OH,USA),抗氧化剂是IRGANOXTM1076(BASF SE,Ludwigshafen,DE)。所用的增塑剂如下:邻苯二甲酸二辛酯(“DOP”)(来自Acros Organics,NJ,USA),二异癸酯(“DIDP”)(来自Univar,Redmond,WA,USA),偏苯三酸三辛酯(“TOTM”(来自Sigma-Aldrich,St.Louis,MO,USA),双(2-乙基己基)丁二酸酯(也称为琥珀酸二辛酯,“DOS”)(来自Myriant Technologies LLC,Woburn,MA,USA),和基于增塑剂的总重量,50重量%的DOS和50重量%的环氧化大豆油(“eSO”)(PLAS-CHEKTM 775,来自Ferro Corp.,MayfieldHeights,OH,USA)的混合物。增塑剂的混合物通过简单地混合并摇动该两种增塑剂组分一段时间(例如,5分钟)来制备。根据如下表1中提供的配方制备增塑的PVC样品。

通过在使用前预加热所述增塑剂(或增塑剂混合物)至60℃至少60分钟,并用手进行几秒钟的摇动来制备上述样品。称重各个组分之后,将增塑剂组合物混入所述PVC粉末中以准备“干共混物”,然后制备熔融混合物。按如下步骤准备“干混合物”:
(a)使用刮刀在容器中混合除增塑剂和填料外的所有组分。
(b)使用曲拐式叶片(sigma blades),在90℃和40rpm的条件下进行两分钟来预热40cm3的布雷本登(Brabender)混合滚筒(bowl)。
(c)加入来自步骤(a)的混合后的组分至所述混合滚筒,并混合30秒。
(d)将所述增塑剂加入到混合滚筒中,并混合6分钟,和按照通过视觉观察确定的来记录增塑剂完全吸收的时间。
(e)添加填料并混合60秒。
(f)停止并移出该干混和物。
此后,使用布雷本登混合滚筒并设定凸轮转子为40rpm的转速,熔融混合所述“干混合物”,并在180℃下混合5分钟。
在180℃下压模该得到的混合物组分5分钟(在约500psi 2分钟,随后在月2000psi 3分钟)。采用以上描述的步骤,测量未老化的样品(1)和高温下老化样品(2)的各种性能。所述热老化样品也肉眼检查其表面渗液(喷出)证据。根据以上描述的步骤测量样品的性质。结果提供在下面的表2中。

关于eSO和DOS共混增塑剂(实施例1),可从表2所示的结果得出几个结论:(a)表现出快速的增塑剂吸收(uptake)(如短的增塑剂吸收时间所证明);(b)高的塑化效率(如比4个对比样品中的3个低的肖氏D硬度所证明);(c)加热老化前后具有优异的性能(温度为100℃和113℃);(d)经受回路溢料测试或在高温下老化后,很少或没有渗出;(e)在-20℃的温度下足够柔性;和(f)表现出令人满意的体积电阻率。
实施例2和对比例5-7
这些例子中使用的组分与如上所述的实施例1中相同,不同的是没有填料,和热稳定剂是BAEROPANTM MC9754KA(Baerlocher USA,Dover,OH,USA)。另外,在比较例6中使用的增塑剂为100重量%的eSO。根据下表3中提供的配方制备增塑PVC样品。

关于eSO和DOS共混增塑剂(实施例2),可从表4所示的结果得出几个结论:(a)相比于单独使用eSO更高的塑化效率(表现为低的肖氏硬度);(b)热老化前后极好的性能(100℃的温度下);和(c)经受循环溢料测试或在高温下老化后,没有渗出。
实施例3-5和对比例8-11
以下实施例中,实施例3所用的增塑剂是上述的50:50(重量/重量)eSO/DOS增塑剂。实施例4中,使用含有70重量%的eSO和30重量%的DOS的增塑剂,基于所有增塑剂的重量。在实施例5中,所述增塑剂含有90重量%的eSO和10重量%的DOS,基于所有增塑剂的重量。在对比例8中,增塑剂是100重量%的DOS。对比例9使用含有10重量%的eSO和重量90%的DOS的增塑剂,基于所有增塑剂的重量。在对比例10中,增塑剂含有30重量%的eSO和70重量%的DOS,基于所有增塑剂的重量。对比例11使用的增塑剂为100重量%的eSO。其他组分与以上的实施例1中所述相同,并添加阻燃剂MICROFINETM AO9三氧化二锑(可购自Chemtura Corp.,Middlebury,CT,USA)。根据如下表5中提供的配方制备增塑PVC样品。

关于具有至少50重量%的eSO的eSO和DOS共混增塑剂(实施例3-5),可以从表6中所示的结果中得出几个结论:(a)更高的塑化效率(表现为相比100%的eSO增塑剂,对比例11,具有低的肖氏硬度);(b)相比具有高的或者100%DOS含量的塑化剂,对比例8-10,热老化(在温度100,113,和136℃)之前和之后,提供了优异的性能,特别是拉伸伸长保持率;(c)经受回路溢料测试或在高温下老化后,很少或没有渗出;(d)在-20℃的温度下足够柔性;和(e)表现出令人满意的体积电阻率。
Claims (10)
1.一种增塑的聚氯乙烯组合物,包括:
(a)氯乙烯树脂;和
(b)增塑剂,包括:
(ⅰ)丁二酸酯,和
(ⅱ)环氧化天然油,
其中,当所述增塑剂的存在量为基于100重量份的所述氯乙烯树脂,每百树脂52份所述增塑剂时,按ASTM D2240测定,所述增塑的聚氯乙烯组合物具有小于30的肖氏D硬度,
其中,所述增塑的氯乙烯聚合物组合物在100℃下老化168小时时,按ASTM D638测定,具有至少30%的拉伸伸长保持率。
2.权利要求1的组合物,其中所述丁二酸酯是二烷基丁二酸酯,其中每个烷基独立地选自饱和或不饱和的,支链的,直链的,或环状的C1至C13的烷基。
3.权利要求1或权利要求2中任一项的组合物,其中,所述丁二酸酯是二(2-乙基己基)丁二酸酯。
4.前述权利要求中任一项的组合物,其中基于所述增塑剂的总重量,所述丁二酸酯在所述增塑剂中的存在量为10至50重量%,其中基于所述增塑剂的总重量,所述环氧化天然油在所述增塑剂中的存在量为50至90重量%。
5.前述权利要求中任一项的组合物,其中基于所述增塑的聚氯乙烯组合物的总重量,所述增塑剂的存在量为20至60重量%,其中基于所述增塑的聚氯乙烯组合物的总重量,所述氯乙烯树脂的存在量为40至80重量%。
6.前述权利要求中任一项的组合物,其中,所述环氧化天然油是环氧化大豆油。
7.前述权利要求中任一项的组合物,进一步包括(c)热稳定剂。
8.根据权利要求7的组合物,其中所述热稳定剂是金属皂,其中基于所述增塑的聚氯乙烯组合物的总重量,所述热稳定剂的存在量为0.6至5重量%。
9.一种涂覆的导体,包括导电芯和围绕所述导电芯的至少一部分的聚合物层,其中权利要求1所述的增塑的聚氯乙烯组合物构成所述聚合物层。
10.根据权利要求9的涂覆的导体,其中,所述电缆是60℃,75℃,80℃,90℃,或105℃额定电缆,根据Underwriters Laboratories标准83和1581。
