Abstract

技术领域
本发明涉及一种显示装置，尤其涉及在形成有显示区域的同一基板上还一并形成有驱动电路(外围电路)的有源矩阵型的显示装置。
背景技术
这种显示装置被称为所谓的驱动电路一体型的显示装置，成为在小型化方面有效的构造。
在该显示装置的显示区域上，呈矩阵状配置有具有开关元件的各像素。首先，为了向某一像素写入图像数据，而使该像素的开关元件接通。然后，在该开关元件接通的期间，由上述驱动电路提供的信号作为图像数据而被写入到该像素中。
上述开关元件由薄膜晶体管形成。另外，上述驱动电路也由许多薄膜晶体管构成。一般而言，各像素中的薄膜晶体管和驱动电路中的薄膜晶体管分别以并行的方式形成。
并且，公知在上述驱动电路中具有电平移位电路，例如从下述专利文件1中也能够得出。利用该电平移位电路，能够消除来自外部设备的输入信号的电压电平与该显示装置中电路的电压电平不同这样的缺点。

发明内容
但是近年来，公知使用了多晶半导体层(例如Poly-Si)作为上述薄膜晶体管的半导体层。利用多晶半导体层能够实现电荷迁移率较高的薄膜晶体管。
具有多晶半导体层的薄膜晶体管，通常阈值电压较大，此外其偏差也较大，因此使用由具有例如单晶半导体层的薄膜晶体管所形成的电平移位电路进行正常工作的电路，在使用了由具有多晶半导体层的薄膜晶体管所形成的电平移位电路的情况下，会产生无法正常工作的问题。
也就是说，由于流经该薄膜晶体管的电流，尽管输入信号是低电平但输出电压不会下降到低电平而保持在高电平，或者与此相反，尽管输入信号是高电平但输出电压不会上升到高电平而依然保持在低电平。
本发明的目的在于，提供一种具有电平移位电路的显示装置，该电平移位电路由具有多晶半导体层的薄膜晶体管形成，即便该薄膜晶体管的阈值发生变动也能够可靠地进行工作。
简单说明在本申请所公开的发明中具有代表性的技术方案的概要如下。
(1)本发明的显示装置，在基板上形成例如由多晶半导体层的薄膜晶体管构成的电平移位电路，其特征在于：
上述电平移位电路包括多个源极输入电平移位电路和选择电路，
上述各源极输入电平移位电路包括漏极电阻不同的多个单位电平移位电路、与上述各单位电平移位电路分别对应设置的第一电平移位电路和第二电平移位电路，
上述第一电平移位电路具有与对应的上述单位电平移位电路的漏极电阻的阻值相同的漏极电阻，其源极端子上被输入高电平的输入信号，
上述第二电平移位电路具有与对应的上述单位电平移位电路的漏极电阻的阻值相同的漏极电阻，其源极端子上被输入低电平的输入信号，
上述选择电路根据来自对应的上述第一电平移位电路和上述第二电平移位电路的各个输出为低电平或高电平的情况，来选择来自多个单位电平移位电路中的某一个的输出。
(2)本发明的显示装置例如是(1)所述的显示装置，它也可以是，上述第一电平移位电路的漏极电阻和上述第二电平移位电路的漏极电阻与上述第一电平移位电路和上述第二电平移位电路所对应的单位电平移位电路的漏极电阻相接近而形成在基板上。
(3)本发明的显示装置，在基板上形成例如由多晶半导体层的薄膜晶体管构成的电平移位电路，其特征在于：
上述电平移位电路包括多个源极输入电平移位电路和选择电路，

(4)本发明的显示装置，在基板上形成例如由多晶半导体层的薄膜晶体管构成的电平移位电路，其特征在于：
上述电平移位电路包括多个源极输入电平移位电路和选择电路，
上述各源极输入电平移位电路包括漏极电阻不同的2个单位电平移位电路、与上述各单位电平移位电路中漏极电阻较小一方的单位电平移位电路对应设置的第一电平移位电路，
上述第一电平移位电路具有与对应的上述单位电平移位电路的漏极电阻的阻值相同的漏极电阻，其源极端子上被输入低电平的输入信号，
上述选择电路在来自上述第一电平移位电路的输出为低电平时选择来自对应的一方的单位电平移位电路的输出，在来自上述第一电平移位电路的输出为高电平时选择来自另一方的单位电平移位电路的输出。
(5)本发明的显示装置例如是(1)所述的显示装置，它也可以是，上述单位电平移位电路的晶体管根据控制信号的输入而被切换导通状态和截止状态。
本发明并不限于以上的结构，在不脱离本发明的技术构思的范围内能够进行各种变更。
由上述结构所构成的显示装置，包括具有由多晶半导体层构成的薄膜晶体管的电平移位电路，该电平移位电路即便该薄膜晶体管的阈值发生变动也能够可靠地进行工作。

具体实施方式
下面，参照附图来说明本发明的显示装置的实施例。
[实施例1]
图1是表示本发明的形成在显示装置上的电平移位电路的一个实施例的电路图。该电平移位电路例如在驱动电路内与其他电路一并形成。
在该电平移位电路中，形成有多个晶体管Tr。这些晶体管Tr的每一个都是具有多晶半导体层(例如Poly-Si)的薄膜晶体管。
图1所示的电平移位电路LS使用多个(n个)用图中虚线框所包围的电平移位电路uLS(为了便于说明，称为单位电平移位电路)，并具有选择来自这些电平移位电路uLS的输出之一的电路。
在说明图1所示的电平移位电路LS之前，以图2所示的电路为例来说明上述单位电平移位电路uLS的结构和工作。
图2所示的单位电平移位电路uLS由n型晶体管Tr和顺序连接的反相器INV1、INV2构成。
在晶体管Tr的漏极端子D上连接有漏极电阻Rd，该漏极电阻Rd连接在电源电压Vdd上。
上述电源电压Vdd是大于等于晶体管Tr的阈值的电压。晶体管Tr的栅极端子G与该电压Vdd连接，该晶体管Tr总是保持在导通状态。
在晶体管Tr的源极端子S上连接有源极电阻Rs，该源极电阻Rs的另一侧端部接地。输入信号IN被输入到上述源极端子S。因此，图2所示的单位电平移位电路uLS被称为源极输入电平移位电路。
在晶体管Tr的上述漏极端子D上连接有串联连接的反相器电路INV1、INV2。该反相器电路INV1、INV2对来自该晶体管Tr的输出进行功率放大。
在具有上述这样结构的单位电平移位电路uLS中，在其输入信号IN为低电平时，在晶体管Tr中流过电流，利用漏极电阻Rd的电压降，输出信号OUT成为低电平。在输入信号IN为高电平时，晶体管Tr的源极端子S的电压上升，因此流过晶体管Tr的电流减少，漏极端子D的电压变为高电平。进而，被串联连接的反相器电路INV1、INV2对漏极端子D的电压进行功率放大，输出为输出信号OUT。由此，即使在输入信号的高电平比内部电路的阈值电压低的情况下，由于该单位电平移位电路uLS将其输入信号的高电平电压转换成比该阈值电压高得多的电压电平，因此该内部电路能够正常驱动。
在此，该单位电平移位电路uLS的工作点能够根据漏极电阻Rd的值来进行设定。尽管输入信号IN为低电平，但输出信号OUT的电压变为高电平时，能够通过使漏极电阻Rd增大，而使输出信号OUT的电压变为低电平。相反，尽管输入信号IN为高电平，但输出信号OUT的电压变为低电平时，能够通过使漏极电阻Rd减小，而使输出信号OUT的电压变为高电平。
再返回到图1，在图1所示的电平移位电路LS中，从图中上级(段)到下级(段)，n个单位电平移位电路uLS并列排列。各工作点根据各单位电平移位电路uLS具有的漏极电阻Rd的值来设定，各工作点随着该值的不同而不同。
在此，从图中上级到下级排列的各单位电平移位电路uLS依次标记标号uLS(1)、uLS(2)、...、uLS(n)，各单位电平移位电路具有的漏极电阻Rd依次标记标号Rd1、Rd2、......、Rdn。
即单位电平移位电路uLS(1)具有漏极电阻Rd1，同样，单位电平移位电路uLS(2)具有漏极电阻Rd2，......，单位电平移位电路uLS(n)具有漏极电阻Rdn。
这些单位电平移位电路uLS(1)、uLS(2)、...、uLS(n)的输出分别被输入到时钟反相器CIN(1)、CIN(2)、...、CIN(n)。
并且，在上述单位电平移位电路uLS(1)的横向，设置有由第一电平移位电路pLS(1)、第二电平移位电路dLS(1)以及逻辑电路XEOR(1)构成的切换电路。
同样，在上述单位电平移位电路uLS(2)的横向，设置有由第一电平移位电路pLS(2)、第二电平移位电路dLS(2)以及逻辑电路XEOR(2)构成的切换电路；......；在上述单位电平移位电路uLS(n)的横向，设置有由第一电平移位电路pLS(n)、第二电平移位电路dLS(n)以及逻辑电路XEOR(n)构成的切换电路。
上述第一电平移位电路pLS(1)由与单位电平移位电路uLS(1)基本相同的构造(具有漏极电阻Rd1)构成，但与上述单位电平移位电路uLS(1)不同的是，向其源极端子S输入高电平的输入信号HIN。
因此，上述第一电平移位电路pLS(1)应输出高电平作为其输出电压，但在漏极电阻Rd1较大导致工作点比高电平相对的阈值低时，会输出低电平作为其输出电压。
也就是说，上述第一电平移位电路pLS(1)在工作点比高电平相对的阈值高、即工作相对高电平输入处于良好状态时输出高电平，在工作点比高电平相对的阈值低、即工作相对高电平输入处于恶化状态时输出低电平。
上述第二电平移位电路dLS(1)由与单位电平移位电路uLS(1)基本相同的构造(具有漏极电阻Rd1)构成，但与上述单位电平移位电路uLS(1)不同的是，向其源极端子S输入由低电平构成的输入信号LIN，没有连接相当于上述源极电阻Rs的电阻。
因此，上述第二电平移位电路dLS(1)应输出低电平作为其输出电压，但在漏极电阻Rd1较小导致工作点比低电平相对的阈值高时会输出高电平作为其输出电压。
也就是说，上述第二电平移位电路dLS(1)在工作点比低电平相对的阈值低、即工作相对高电平输入处于良好状态时输出低电平，在工作点比低电平相对的阈值高、即工作相对低电平输入处于恶化状态时输出高电平。
并且，来自上述第一电平移位电路pLS(1)的输出与来自上述第二电平移位电路dLS(1)的输出都被输入到异或电路XEOR(1)。仅在上述第一电平移位电路pLS(1)相对高电平工作良好而输出高电平的电压、且上述第二电平移位电路dLS(1)相对低电平工作良好而输出低电平的电压这样的情况下，上述异或电路XEOR(1)将输出高电平的电压。与此相对，无论是针对高电平还是低电平哪一个，工作处于恶化状态时，上述第一电平移位电路pLS(1)和上述第二电平移位电路dLS(1)都输出高电平的电压，或者都输出低电平的电压。因此，上述异或电路XEOR(1)将输出低电平的电压。因此，能够挑选上述单位电平移位电路uLS(1)的工作是否良好。
另外，位于上述单位电平移位电路uLS(2)的横向的、由第一电平移位电路pLS(2)、第二电平移位电路dLS(2)以及异或电路XEOR(2)构成的切换电路的作用；......；位于上述单位电平移位电路uLS(n)的横向的由第一电平移位电路pLS(n)、第二电平移位电路dLS(n)以及异或电路XEOR(n)构成的切换电路的作用也是相同的。
并且，例如，上述单位电平移位电路uLS(1)、上述第一电平移位电路pLS(1)以及上述第二电平移位电路dLS(1)分别具有阻值相同的漏极电阻Rd1，并使各漏极电阻Rd1在基板上邻近地形成，从而上述各电路的工作点均是相同的。这样的结构对于其他上述单位电平移位电路uLS以及位于其横向的上述切换电路也是同样的。由此，能够挑选各单位电平移位电路uLS(1)、uLS(2)、...、uLS(n)中正常工作的电路。
在图1所示的实施例中，通过将位于上级的异或电路XEOR(例如XEOR(1))的反相输出与位于下一级的异或电路XEOR(例如XEOR(2))的输出输入到“与”电路AND(例如AND(1，2))，能够挑(分)选正常工作的单位电平移位电路uLS(例如uLS(1)或者uLS(2))。在从上级侧到下级侧使漏极电阻Rd的值减少时，使上级的输出反相，因此能够最先挑选具有工作相对高电平为良好状态的漏极电阻Rd的单位电平移位电路uLS。
向输入单位电平移位电路uLS(1)的输出的上述时钟反相器CIN(1)输入来自上述异或电路XEOR(1)的输出。另外，向从单位电平移位电路uLS(2)、...、uLS(n)输出的各上述时钟反相器CIN(2)、...、CIN(n)输入来自上述“与”电路AND(1，2)、...、(n-1，n)的输出。
时钟反相器CIN(1)、...、CIN(n)在来自上述异或电路XEOR(1)、“与”电路AND(1，2)、...、(n-1，n)的输出为高电平时分别作为反相器进行工作，在为低电平时成为高阻抗状态。
并且，来自各时钟反相器CIN(1)、...、CIN(n)的输出能够经由反相器INV而输出。
这样构成的电平移位电路LS设定为n个单位电平移位电路uLS的各自的工作点各不相同，因此即便工作点由于阈值电压或电源的变动而发生变动时，也能够选择与此相应的适当的工作区域的单位电平移位电路uLS，并使用选择出的该单位电平移位电路uLS的输出。因此，能够得到也能应对阈值电压或电源电压的偏差而进行工作的电平移位电路LS。
在图1中采用了具有n个单位电平移位电路uLS的结构，但是采用2个或者3个也能够做成具有充分实用性的电路结构。具有3个单位电平移位电路uLS的电路，设置针对所设定的工作区域向上侧偏离的情况和向下侧偏离的情况的3个工作点的电路。
[实施例2]
图3(a)、图3(b)是分别表示本发明的电平移位电路的其他实施例的电路图。
图3(a)、图3(b)所示的各电平移位电路LS均是具有2个单位电平移位电路的电路。此时，能够构成针对所设定的工作区域应对阈值向上侧偏离的情况的电路和应对阈值向下侧偏离的情况的电路。
图3(a)示出阈值向低压侧偏离的情况的应对电路。
在图3(a)中，一方的单位电平移位电路uLS(1)的漏极电阻Rd1的电阻值被设定得较大，另一方的单位电平移位电路uLS(2)的漏极电阻Rd2的电阻被设定得较小。
另外，具有上述第一电平移位电路pLS(1)，它由与单位电平移位电路uLS(1)基本相同的构造(具有漏极电阻Rd1)构成，但与上述单位电平移位电路uLS(1)不同的是，其源极端子S被输入高电平的输入信号HIN。
第一电平移位电路pLS(1)相对高电平输入工作处于良好状态时，该第一电平移位电路pLS(1)的输出成为高电平，因此能够利用时钟反相器CIN(1)选择上述单位电平移位电路uLS(1)。
另一方面，晶体管Tr的阈值向低电压侧变动时，流过该晶体管Tr的电流增大，上述第一电平移位电路pLS(1)的输出成为低电平，能够利用时钟反相器CIN(2)选择上述单位电平移位电路uLS(2)。
单位电平移位电路uLS(2)具有的漏极电阻Rd2的阻值小，单位电平移位电路uLS(2)具有较高的工作点，因此即便晶体管Tr的阈值向低电压侧变动时，单位电平移位电路uLS(2)也针对高电平输入而输出高电平。
图3(b)示出阈值向高压侧偏移时的应对电路。
在图3(b)中，与图3(a)标号相同的部件具有相同的功能。与图3(a)的情况不同，单位电平移位电路uLS(1)的漏极电阻Rd1的电阻值被设定得较小，单位电平移位电路uLS(2)的漏极电阻Rd2的电阻值被设定得较大。另外，具有第一电平移位电路pLS(1)，其源极端子S被输入低电平的输入信号。第一电平移位电路pLS(1)的漏极电阻Rd1的电阻值与单位电平移位电路uLS(1)的漏极电阻Rd1的电阻值相同。
第一电平移位电路pLS(1)相对于低电平输入工作处于良好状态时，该单位电平移位电路uLS(1)被选择，在阈值向高电压侧变动时，单位电平移位电路uLS(2)被选择。
[实施例3]
图4与图5示出本发明的电平移位电路的其他实施例，是与例如图3所示的实施例对应描绘的图。
与图3的情况相比，不同之处在于被输入控制信号ENB，该控制信号ENB用于使单位电平移位电路uLS(1)的晶体管Tr、以及单位电平移位电路uLS(2)的晶体管Tr截止。
利用上述这样的结构，在未使用电平移位电路LS的待机状态时，能够抑制电流流过各漏极电阻Rd所导致的功耗的增大。
这样的结构也能够应用于上述图1所示的结构。
此外，上述控制信号既可以由内部电路生成，也可以从外部输入。
上述的各实施例也可以分别单独或者组合使用。这是因为能够使各实施例的效果单独或者组合来实现。

Claims (5)

1.一种显示装置，在基板上形成有由多晶半导体层的薄膜晶体管构成的电平移位电路，其特征在于：
上述电平移位电路包括多个源极输入电平移位电路和选择电路，
上述各源极输入电平移位电路包括其漏极电阻不同的多个单位电平移位电路、以及分别与上述各单位电平移位电路对应而设置的第一电平移位电路和第二电平移位电路，
上述第一电平移位电路具有与对应的上述单位电平移位电路的漏极电阻的阻值相同的漏极电阻，其源极端子上被输入高电平的输入信号，
上述第二电平移位电路具有与对应的上述单位电平移位电路的漏极电阻的阻值相同的漏极电阻，其源极端子上被输入低电平的输入信号，
上述选择电路根据来自对应的上述第一电平移位电路和上述第二电平移位电路的各个输出为高电平和低电平的情况来选择来自上述多个单位电平移位电路中的一个单位电平移位电路的输出。
2.根据权利要求1所述的显示装置，其特征在于：
上述第一电平移位电路的漏极电阻和上述第二电平移位电路的漏极电阻与上述第一电平移位电路和上述第二电平移位电路所对应的单位电平移位电路的漏极电阻相接近而形成在基板上。
3.一种显示装置，在基板上形成有由多晶半导体层的薄膜晶体管构成的电平移位电路，其特征在于：
上述电平移位电路包括多个源极输入电平移位电路和选择电路，
上述各源极输入电平移位电路包括其漏极电阻不同的2个单位电平移位电路、和与上述各单位电平移位电路中漏极电阻较大一方的单位电平移位电路对应而设置的第一电平移位电路，
上述第一电平移位电路具有与对应的上述单位电平移位电路的漏极电阻的阻值相同的漏极电阻，其源极端子上被输入高电平的输入信号，
上述选择电路在来自上述第一电平移位电路的输出为高电平时选择来自对应的一方的单位电平移位电路的输出，在来自上述第一电平移位电路的输出为低电平时选择来自另一方的单位电平移位电路的输出。
4.一种显示装置，在基板上形成有由多晶半导体层的薄膜晶体管构成的电平移位电路，其特征在于：
上述电平移位电路包括多个源极输入电平移位电路和选择电路，
上述各源极输入电平移位电路包括其漏极电阻不同的2个单位电平移位电路、和与上述各单位电平移位电路中漏极电阻较小一方的单位电平移位电路对应而设置的第一电平移位电路，
上述第一电平移位电路具有与对应的上述单位电平移位电路的漏极电阻的阻值相同的漏极电阻，其源极端子上被输入低电平的输入信号，
上述选择电路在来自上述第一电平移位电路的输出为低电平时选择来自对应的一方的单位电平移位电路的输出，在来自上述第一电平移位电路的输出为高电平时选择来自另一方的单位电平移位电路的输出。
5.根据权利要求1所述的显示装置，其特征在于：
上述单位电平移位电路的晶体管根据控制信号的输入而被切换导通状态和截止状态。
