SOUS-REVENDICATIONS

CLAIM
Protective screen against the impact and exothermic action of a perforating explosive charge, according to the claim of the main patent, characterized in that all the free ends of the metal rods bristling with it are surmounted by a cap of coated tungsten particles of a chromium / carbon / vanadium steel, while the base of the rods is taken in a mass of corundum agglomerated with electrofused cement, sodium silicate or molten phenoplast.
SUB-CLAIMS
1. Screen according to claim, characterized in that all the rods have the same length.
2. Screen according to claim, the rods of which comprise a base and a head of square section, joined by a cylindrical portion, characterized in that the mass of agglomerated corundum coats the square base.
3. Screen according to claim and sub-claim 2, characterized in that the rods are in close contact with each other so as to form, seen from the end, a checkerboard, but comprising empty boxes, due to the absence of stems.
4. Screen according to claim comprising, opposite the rods, thermal insulation, followed by a refractory steel plate and a second thermal insulation, characterized in that the thermal insulation is composed of corundum added to a 50% mixture of zirconium oxide agglomerated with a potassium silicate or molten phenoplast.
5. Screen according to claim and sub-claims 2 and 3, characterized in that the rods and the plate, from which they emerge, form a whole mechanically welded.
6. Screen according to claim and sub-claims 2 and 3, characterized in that the rods and the plate, from which they emerge, are in one piece from the foundry.
The main patent N "599525 relates to a shield for protection against the impact and the exothermic action of a perforating explosive charge and provides, according to its claim, that said shield comprises a metal plate bristling with metal rods which prevent the charge of the armor. 'achieve.
However, there are loads which, in addition to the exothermic action, exert an abrasive effect by facilitating the perforating action, such as for example shaped charges with thermodynamic action.
The object of the present invention is to improve the screen according to the main patent so as to enable it to resist the effects of such loads, or the propagation speed of copper or or any other metal used for perforation.
This result is obtained by providing the free ends of all the metal rods bristling with the screen with a cap of tungsten particles coated with a steel / chrome / carbon vanadium, while the base of the rods is taken in a mass of corundum. agglomerated with electrofused cement, sodium silicate or molten phenoplast.
The appended drawing represents an embodiment of the object of the invention given by way of example.
Its only figure is a partial cross-section of the screen, showing two contiguous rods.
These rods are found at 1, each having a square base 2, a central cylindrical part 3 and a square free end 4, similar to the base, itself fixed in the plate 5.
The rods are contiguous, that is to say touch each other by the edges of their square parts, by which they are welded to each other or even come in a single piece, all as described in the patent. main.
But, in addition to that, the free end of each rod is, in this case, surmounted by a cap 6 (in section on the right rod), made of granular particles of tungsten, coated with a chromium steel / carbon / vanadium, while the bases of the rods are, for their part, taken in a mass 7 made of grain corundum corresponding to the N "60 sieve, agglomerated with electrofused cement, sodium silicate or Bakelite, and of any other non-fusible binder The height of the caps may for example be 6 to 10 mm, and that of the bases of the order of 20 to 30 mm.
The tungsten deposition can for example be carried out with an electric arc or, preferably, in plasma.
In the main patent, it was provided that the plate 5 supporting the rods 1 could be followed by a refractory steel plate caught between two thermal insulations.
In the present embodiment, such a plate is also provided at 8, preceded by a layer 9 of corundum, the grain of which will correspond to the N "60 sieve, added to a 50% mixture of zirconium oxide agglomerated by a silicate of potash or molten Bakelite and followed by at least one thermal insulation 10 also resistant to abrasion and thermodynamic effects.
The metal part to be protected is finally located at 11, behind the aforementioned thermal insulation.
In the main patent, rods of two different lengths were provided, alternating with each other. This is also possible in the present case, but preference will be given to a set of rods all of the same length.
The caps of the rods reach a very high hardness and, in addition to being able to withstand very high temperatures, they offer almost total resistance to abrasion.
