Verfahren zur Herstellung eines neuen blauvioletten basischen Farbstoffes. Es wurde gefunden, dass man einen neuen, blauvioletten, basischen Farbstoff der Formel

erhält, wenn man 4'-Äthoxy-N-methyldi- phenylamin-4-aldehyd mit 1.3.3-Trimethyl-2- methylenindolin- 5 - carbonsäureäthylester in saurem Medium kondensiert.
Der Farbstoff stellt ein blauschwarzes, kristallines Pulver dar, das sich in Wasser gut löst. Er kann zum Färben von tannierter Baumwolle, Leder, Seide oder Papier ver wendet werden. Besonders geeignet ist er zum Färben und Drucken von Acetatkunst- seide, auf welcher er sehr klare, wasser-, wasch- und lichtechte, weiss ätzbare, blau violette Färbungen bezw. Drucke ergibt.
<I>Beispiel:</I> 24,5 Gewichtsteile 1.3.3-Trimethyl-2- methylenindolin-5-carbonsäureäthylester und 23,5 Gewichtsteile 4'-Äthoxy-N-methyldi- phenylamin-4-aldehyd werden in 100 Ge wichtsteilen Eisessig 5-6 Stunden auf 90 bis<B>95'</B> erhitzt. Man giesst dann die erhal tene Lösung in Wasser, salzt den Farbstoff mit Kochsalz und Chlorzinklösung aus, trennt ihn von der sauren Lösung ab, löst ihn in der erforderlichen Menge heissen Wassers auf, filtriert die Lösung von harzigen Verunrei nigungen ab und salzt den Farbstoff durch erneuten Zusatz von Kochsalz aus.
Nach dem Absaugen und Trocknen erhält man in guter Ausbeute eine bronzierende, dunkle Kristall masse, die sich in Wasser bezw. in den übli chen Druckpasten gut löst. Auf Acetatkunst- seide gibt der neue Farbstoff klare, blau- violette Färbungen bezw. Drucke von guten Echtheitseigenschaften.
