Description

Cooling air ducting device on vehicles with an air-cooled in-line engine in the rear In vehicles with a rear engine, air-cooled engines are used with advantage, since the arrangement of the radiator of a water-cooled engine is very difficult here.

Up to now, mainly engines with cylinders arranged in V-shape or opposite one another have been used, so that the air sucked into the engine compartment from both sides of the vehicle or from above remained divided into two flows and each flow always cooled the one associated side of the motor .

For smaller vehicles, an engine with cylinders arranged in line is best suited because this engine is the cheapest in its position. is. On the other hand, this type of engine causes difficulties with regard to cooling, because here:

the two streams of the sucked in air cannot be supplied to the cylinders equally. According to the invention, this deficiency should be eliminated by separating the air flows from both sides of the vehicle to the engine by a horizontal wall in such a way that one flow is the cylinder jacket, the other flow:

  cools the cylinder heads.

The drawing shows schematically an embodiment of the subject invention.

The cylinder 1 with the head 2 is sucked in from the surroundings of the vehicle and, as the arrows 3 and 4 indicate, in two streams of. both sides supplied air cooled. The two streams of cooling air are separated from one another by the partition 5, which is at least approximately in the dividing plane between the head and the cylinder jacket,
