Abstract

MéTODOS E MATERIAIS PARA CONFERIR RESISTêNCIA A PESTES E PATóGENOS DE PLANTAS. São fornecidos métodos e materiais para conferir resistência a pestes para plantas. Plantas são transformadas com um constructo silencioso homólogo a um gene de uma peste de planta que é essencial para a sobrevivência, o desenvolvimento ou a patogenicidade da peste. Isso resulta na produção pela planta de RNAi para o gene selecionado, o qual, quando ingerido pela peste resulta no silenciamento do gene e na subseqúente redução da capacidade da peste de causar danos à planta. Em outras modalidades, a capacidade reduzida da peste de causar danos à planta é passada para a progenia da peste. Métodos e materiais para a despatogênese da peste também são fornecidos.
