Abstract
A invenção faz uso de visão artificial para melhorar a performance de uma operação de flotação com provimento de um substituto para a visão e habilidade em solucionar problemas humanas convencionais. A invenção redireciona a aproximação convencional de "caracterização da espuma" para a de "determinação das características da espuma". A invenção provê um método para monitorar e controlar um fluxo de uma mistura mineral em uma célula de flotação de uma planta de flotação que inclui as etapas de obtenção de uma série de imagens digitais relativas às características da espuma de uma célula de flotação. As imagens digitais são transmitidas para um computador para o processamento das mesmas em sinais parâmetro dos parâmetros digitais das características da espuma. Sinais de controle são produzidos em resposta aos sinais parâmetro recebidos para provocar as variações necessárias nas características da espuma em uma célula de flotação; e as características da espuma em uma célula de flotação são controladas em resposta aos sinais de controle de maneira a provocar as variações necessárias nas características da espuma na célula.
