Description

   <Desc/Clms Page number 1>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 3>

   <Desc / Clms Page number 1>

   Patent No. 556,274 relates to a bottle or generally any container, of thermoplastic material, with lateral and peripheral welds, hot and vacuum formed and with thin walls. ,
This container is composed of two shells, of identical shape and dimensions, which are joined by welding, sealing or gluing. These two shells, obtained by forming starting from the plastic sheet, have a peripheral outer rim, intended to allow their assembly. The part of these shells which is intended to subsequently form the base of the finished container or bottle has a special shape, so that the bottle or container can stand in the upright position.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

   The present invention relates to an improvement in the process for manufacturing bottles of this type. According to this improvement, the bottle or the container is no longer manufactured using two entirely identical shells but detached from one another, and therefore constituting two distinct parts, as indicated in patent N 556 274, but using two shells formed in one piece, so that the bottom of the container forms a body with each of the shells.

   This bottom has a special groove which constitutes a hinge, which makes it possible to bend the two symmetrical shells with respect to the hinge in such a way that they meet exactly to form a bottle or a container, which after welding, sealing or gluing is perfectly homogeneous, waterproof and very stable when in the standing position.

   The appended drawing shows an embodiment given by way of non-limiting example.

   Fig. 1 is a plan view of the assembly of the two combined shells which will form the bottle, as it leaves the hot forming and by vacuum.

   Fig. 2 is a front elevational view of the completed bottle.

   Fig. 3 is a side elevational view of the assembled bottle.

   Fig. 4 is a schematic view of the folding mode.

   In the figures, the reference numerals 1 and 2 denote the two shells made of thermoplastic material which constitute the bottle. For the manufacture of the bottle, these two shells are joined to each other by welding or by any other assembly process along their outer edges, respectively 3 and 4, which protrude and thus form the surface of the bottle. junction.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 3>

   These two shells 1 and 2 come out of the forming in one piece, as shown in Fig. 1. The part of the shells 1 and 2, intended to form the bottom 5,6 of the completed bottle, has a special shape and has in its middle a groove 7 forming a hinge. For the manufacture of the bottle, the two shells are brought together by folding around the hinge 7, as shown schematically in FIG. 4, in such a way that the edges 3 and 4 of the shells come to be placed exactly one on the other.

   The shape of the portions 5 and 6 of the shells, intended to form the bottom of the completed bottle, is such that when the bottle occupies the upright position, the greater part of the surface of the elements 5 and 6 rests on the plane of laying of the bottle, while the groove 7 which constitutes the hinge as well as the edges 3 and 4 do not come into contact with the removal plane; in this way the bottle placed in the upright position has two flat projections with a large surface area at its lower end, which gives it perfect stability.

   The two shells 1 and 2 have ribs 10 (see FIG. 2) intended to increase the rigidity of the assembly and thus allowing the use of very thin walls, in order to arrive at an attractive manufacturing price.

   The bottle has at its upper part a neck 8 having a rib 9; in order to allow the placement of a special plastic closure, not described here.

   It is understood that the embodiment described above is given only by way of example and that other embodiments can be imagined within the scope of the claims below.
