4 4 4. Invention Title: BURIED WALL CASE The following statement is a full description of this invention, including the best method of performing it known to us BURIED WALL CASE The invention relates to a buried wall case.
A known buried wall case, in particular for buried distribution boxes, is described in DE 44 04 351. The buried wall case described has a tub consisting of a bottom plate and two side walls projecting from it mainly vertically, when the buried wall case formed by the tub is in use. The ends of the side walls are bent at an angle to the inside and project into the open space at the when in use top and bottom horizontal edges of the tub bottom plate. Between the bent ends of the side walls, flange plates are inserted to seal the tub off all round. It is provided that pins on the face edges of the flange plates latch into corresponding recesses in the ends of the tub which are bent to the inside. The disadvantage with such a construction is that the tubs deform when bricked in (they are made from plastic), so that the insertion of the flange plates becomes difficult or often impossible. In addition, complicated labyrinth structures are provided in the area of the vertical joints between the ends of the bent side walls and the flange plates D to prevent the penetration of mortar or concrete water during bricking in of the buried wall case.
With the known buried wall cases it is also a problem that, when inserting the flange plates, which make up the top and bottom walls (bottom and lid) of the 20 buried wall case, between the side walls of the tub of the buried wall case, problems arise because without fail the tub becomes deformed when bricked in.
This will also occur if the side walls have sections reaching around the corner.
An object of the invention is to provide a buried wall case construction, where the flange plates can be easily inserted between the side walls of the tub, 25 even when the latter is deformed. A preferred object of the invention is to provide sufficient sealing to prevent the penetration of concrete water and mortar during the bricking in of the buried wall case, particularly if the latter has been injection moulded from plastic.
SUMMARY OF INVENTION According to the present invention, there is provided a buried wall case with a tub, including a plate-shaped bottom plate and two side walls projection from the latter vertically, and with two flange plates insertable between the ends of the side walls, wherein between the lateral end surfaces of the flange plates and the opposite sections of the side walls a clearance exists in longitudinal direction of the flange plates.
Preferably, the flange plates have contact surfaces on their side facing the interior, and corresponding surfaces project vertically from the side walls which make firm contact with the surfaces when the flange plates are inserted.
Preferably, grooves are provided on the ends of the side walls of the tub, undercut vertically to the bottom plate of the tub, in which the end surfaces of the flange plates engage.
Preferably, the clearance exists between the bottom surfaces of the grooves and the facing end surfaces of the flange plates.
Preferably, the flange plates are inserted between the side walls without clearance vertically to the plane of the flange plates.
15 Preferably, from the bottom plate of the tub spring latches fitted with latch fingers project, which engage behind latch blocks on the external surface of the flange plates when the flange plates are inserted between the side walls of the tub.
The spring latches may be located opposite the surfaces in the area of the 20 ends of the side walls.
The clearance provided in lengthwise direction of the flange plates between the ends of the flange plates and the corresponding surfaces of the side walls of the tub of the buried wall case ensure that the flange plates can be inserted easily between the side walls of the tub, even if the tub became 25 deformed during the bricking in process.
In a preferred embodiment, due to the fact that contact surfaces are provided on the ends of the flange plates in direction of their plane, as well as corresponding surfaces in the area of the side walls of the tub, vertical to the side walls, which make firm contact with each other when the flange plates are inserted, a sufficient seal against the penetration of concrete water and mortar during the bricking-in process will result, even without exact fit or overlap between side walls and the flange plates.
The invention will be better understood from the following description of a preferred embodiment of the invention, described by way of example only with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: Fig. 1 shows an embodiment of a tub, Fig. 2 shows a cross-section of the tub of a buried wall case shown in fig.
1, Fig. 3 shows the tub of a buried wall case fig. 1 with a flange plate, Fig. 4 shows the tub with flange plate inserted and Fig. 5 shows the tub with flange plate inserted as seen from the outside.
Referring to the drawings, a tub 1 for a buried wall case shown in fig. 1, as it is for example used for buried electrical distribution boxes, consists of a bottom plate 2 and two side walls 3 rising from its short sides and formed in one piece with the bottom plate 2. Usually the tub 1 will be bricked in in such a manner that the sidewalls are vertical.
o In the area of the clear edges 4 of the tub 1 cable supports 5 are provided.
o The cable supports 5 consist of a cable support strip 6 parallel to edge 4, where the strip 6 in the embodiment shown is connected to the bottom plate 2 of tub 1 20 by means of three bridges 7. Those surfaces of the cable support strips 6 facing up, i.e. in direction of the side walls 3 of tub 1, are chamfered, resulting in sharp lengthwise edges 8. Next to the cable support strips 6, formed edge strips 9 are provided on the edge 4 of bottom plate 2. The edge strips 9 have chamfered surfaces 10, through which a cable binder 11 which is advanced parallel to a cable 12 (fig. 1) to bottom 2 is redirected up, so that threading the cable binder 11 through to fasten a cable 12 in the area of the cable support 5 is easily possible.
Due to the sharp edge 8 on the cable support strip 6 in conjunction with the cable binder 11, in addition to the frictional connection a solid connection is achieved, because the sharp edge 8 digs into the cable sheath, resulting in considerably higher extraction forces. With the cable support device 6 it is easily possible to use two or more cable binders 11 per cable 12.
Flange plates 15, which are to be inserted between the side walls 3 of tub 1 to form an all round sealed buried wall case, have (see fig. 3) straight and bent perforations surrounding wall sections 16, so that wherever a cable 12 has been attached to cable support 5, a path for the cable can be made by breaking off these sections.
One advantage of the cable support 5 on tub 1 is that a cable 12 does not have to be attached in a specific position on a tooth, but may be attached anywhere along the entry section of the cable support The flange plates 15 to be inserted between the side walls 3 of the tub 1 have a wall section 17, in which the wall sections 16 which can be broken off are provided, an edge strip 18 running lengthwise, and strips forming the side end surface 19. Adjacent to the strips, on both ends of the flange plate 15, are contact surfaces 20 protruding towards the tub 1, i.e. towards the inside, parallel to the plane of the flange plate e* i o *o .ooooi *oo* oS The contact surfaces 20 on the ends of flange plates 15 are provided with corresponding surfaces 21 on the ends of side walls 3 of the tub 1, vertically to the side walls 3, where the surfaces 21 make firm contact with the contact surfaces 20 when the flange plates are inserted, so that flange plate 15 is exactly guided along the direction of side walls 3 of tub 1. In addition, correct guidance is ensured by means of L-shaped guiding rails 22 on the ends of the side walls 3, surrounding the strips of flange plates 15, so that the contact surfaces 20 on flange plates 15, too, push against the corresponding surfaces 21 of the side walls 3. Due to the overlaps thus created, the penetration of concrete water or mortar is prevented when the buried wall case is bricked in.
The guiding rails 22 are arranged and adjusted with respect to the strips on the flange plates such that the inserted flange plates 15 are fixed in position transverse to their planes, ie. in direction of the plane of the side walls 3. This will also ensure firm contact is made between contact surfaces 20 and corresponding surfaces 21.
With the buried wall case (see fig. 4) it is provided that between the flange plate end surfaces 19, generated by the strips, and the opposite bottom surfaces 25 of the grooves on edges 26 of side walls 3 of tub 1 a clearance X exists transverse to side walls 3, ie. in direction of the plane :i of flange plates 15. Thus the insertion of the flange plates 15 into tub 1 to form a buried wall S case will even be possible if the side walls 3 of tub 1 have been deformed.
SThe flange plates 15 are attached to tub 1 by means of spring latches 31 with latch fingers where the spring latches are made in one piece with the tub 1 and where the latch fingers engage behind latch blocks 32 on the external surface of flange plates The buried wall case embodiment described, consisting of tub 1 with bottom plate 2 and side walls 3, as well as flange plates 15, prevents the problems arising during insertion of the flange plates 15, even if the tub 1 becomes deformed due to pressure occurring during the bricking-in process. With the construction described, the inevitable problem of deformation of the tub 1 of plastic buried wall cases during bricking-in is solved, because clearance X exists between the ends 26 of side walls 3 of tub 1 and end surfaces 19 of flange plates 15. In this manner, the easy removal and insertion of flange plates 15 (bottom, respectively lid) is ensured.
It is further of advantage that with the construction of a buried wall case as described, the penetration of concrete water and mortar into the buried wall case is prevented due to the firm contact between the surfaces 21 projecting from side walls 3 and the surfaces 20 on the ends of the flange plates In summary, a preferred embodiment of the buried wall case according to the invention can be described as follows: A buried wall case for buried distribution boxes or buried metre boxes consists of a tub 1 with a bottom plate 2 with two side walls 3 rising from it laterally, and two flange plates 15 insertable between the side walls in the area of the edges of bottom plate 2. the lateral end surfaces 19 of flange plates 15 have a clearance X in longitudinal direction of flange plates 15 opposite wall sections 25 of side walls 3 of tub 1, so that the flange plates 15 can be inserted even if the side walls 3 of tub 1 become deformed during the bricking-in process. Contact surfaces facing towards the interior are provided on the ends of the flange plates which have allocated to them corresponding surfaces 21 projecting vertically from side walls 3. With the flange plates 15 inserted, the contact surfaces make contact with the surfaces 21 such that in the joint area between side walls 3 and flange plates 15 a seal is achieved which prevents the penetration of concrete water or mortar.

Claims (8)
1. Buried wall case with a tub, including a plate-shaped bottom plate and two side walls projection from the latter vertically, and with two flange plates insertable between the ends of the side walls, wherein between the lateral end surfaces of the flange plates and the opposite sections of the side walls a clearance exists in longitudinal direction of the flange plates.
2. Buried wall case according to claim 1, wherein the flange plates have contact surfaces on their side facing the interior, and wherein corresponding surfaces project vertically from the side walls which make firm contact with the surfaces when the flange plates are inserted.
3. Buried wall case according to claim 1 or 2, wherein grooves are provided on the ends of the side walls of the tub, undercut vertically to the bottom plate of the tub, in which the end surfaces of the flange plates engage. C. o C C
4. Buried wall case according to claim 3, wherein the clearance exists between the bottom surfaces of the grooves and the facing end surfaces of the *o flange plates.
5. Buried wall case according to claim 3 or 4, wherein the flange plates are :i inserted between the side walls without clearance vertically to the plane of the flange plates.
6. Buried wall case according to any one of claims 1 to 5, wherein from the bottom plate of the tub spring latches fitted with latch fingers project, which engage behind latch blocks on the external surface of the flange plates when the flange plates are inserted between the side walls of the tub.
7. Buried wall case according to claim 6, wherein the spring latches are located opposite the surfaces in the area of the ends of the side walls.
