Abstract

In a method for cleaning rubber blanket cylinders of a web-fed rotary printing press with continuous unwinding of the web, a liquid from an application apparatus (9), arranged next to a rubber blanket cylinder (3) and above or below the web (1), is applied to the surface of the web, which liquid helps to reduce strong sticking of the web to the sticky, partially dissolved soiled places on the rubber blanket. The application of the web liquid is adapted in time to the washing operation of the rubber blanket from before washing to after washing. The interaction of the cleaning liquid/web liquid during mixing in the printing cylinder gap is taken into consideration by means of a measurement pick-up (15) for registering the dirt passing over the web. Furthermore, the follow-on of the web on the rubber blanket cylinder is recorded (13) and, from that, the metering function of the web liquid is determined in its quantity and variation over time. <IMAGE>
