Abstract
In the lamp circuit with the lamp (1), the inductor (L) and the capacitor (C), the starter is provided with a rectifier (2), a switch (TH1) and switching elements (C2, TH2) for controlling the switch into the off state, as a result of which the lamp is started. A zener diode (ZD1) results in the control input of the switch (TH1) being switched off when the power supply voltage is low, in the case of which low power supply voltage the lamp (1) cannot yet reliably be started, as a result of which the pre-heating phase and starting of the lamp are not made possible until the power supply voltage is approximately three quarters of the nominal supply voltage. Furthermore, the chopping current value at which the pre-heating current is interrupted is limited by a pulse circuit (R6, R7, TH3). This results in reliable starting of the lamp and ensures that the switch (TH1) is not destroyed even if the ballast has a high inductance level. <IMAGE>
