The addition or percentage of the alumina hydrate, which is extremely finely divided in alkaline or neutral water, to the beet material according to the present method is selected according to the particular nature of the beet and the desired degree of efficiency. If the beet pulp or beet pulp is treated with alumina hydrate, it must be ensured that the beet material and alumina hydrate come into contact as closely as possible. The beets can then be further treated in the fresh or dried state in the conventional manner. The further treatment can take place at atmospheric, overpressure or underpressure and at a temperature of 300 to 1050 C.
The costs resulting from the process are insignificant, since the process only requires a drum or a trough for moistening and mixing the beet pulp with the suspension of alumina hydrate and an adjoining filter device for the diffusion juices, if one does not prefer the floating alumina pulp at the same time with the Put the schnitzel on the purrs and let them run into the diffuser at the same time. The production of the beet pulp and its processing would have to be carried out by other suitable mechanical devices.
As already mentioned above, with the process, sugar with a very low salt content or white sugar as a commodity is obtained directly from the beet as the end product. According to the invention, very light diffusion juices and finally fiery, bright thick juices are obtained which, due to the lack of gum substances and low salt content, allow the filling masses to boil easily and crystallize out.
Other advantages of the process include: a. very low lime consumption. This also results in small sludge masses with insignificant sugar losses; there is also an increased yield of sugar and also a very easy clarification of the waste water.
