Die Bauart der ganzen Umsteuerungsvorrichtung ist eine äusserst gedrungene und sehr einfache, da alle Steuerorgane in gleicher Flucht liegen und in einem einzigen Gehäuse untergebracht sind. Die Reibung zwischen den konzentrischen Steuerwellen e und q ist gering, da für diese nur der Unterschied der Schwingungsausschläge der Steuerwelle in Betracht kommt.
Ferner wird durch die Lagerung der Steuerwellen in dem rohrförmigen Gehäuse m ihre gute Abdichtung gewährleistet.
Die Steuerscheiben für die verschiedenen Zylinder können auf die Steuerwellen in beliebiger Weise aufgesetzt werden, je nach der für die Regelung der Ein-und Ausströmung der Hochund Niederdruckzylinder gewählten Regelungsweise. Auch können beliebig viel konzentrische Steuerwellen verwendet werden ; indem beispielsweise die erste auf der exzenterfreien Seite der Maschine gelagerte Steuerwelle als Vollwelle ausgeführt ist und über die sämtlichen Zylinder an die andere Seite der Maschine führt, während die folgenden Steuerwellen als Hohlwellen ausgebildet sind und sich auf der Vollwelle sowie gegenseitig stützen.
