Verfahren zur Herstellung von saurem Stahl
EMI1.1

Process for the production of acid steel
EMI1.1
In the process according to the invention, a strongly basic, low-metal oxide reducing lime-silicate slag, which removes the silicon oxides and their compounds of any degree of dispersion from the steel as far as possible. As is already known, this reducing basic lime-silicate slag also absorbs sulfur and sulfur compounds, so that extensive desulphurisation occurs at the same time. So was z. B. in an acid-resistant steel with 18% Cr and 8% Ni, which was melted in an acid-lined coreless induction furnace and still had 0-016% S, a reduction in the sulfur content to 0-006 "n was found after using the inventive method.
Operating tests carried out on a broad basis have shown that, in particular, higher-alloy steels that are difficult to deform in their hot and cold deformability when using the method according to the present! Invention are greatly improved.
The applicability of the acidic melting process, which offers advantages over the basic one in some respects, is greatly expanded by the process according to the invention, because it reliably eliminates the harmful silica emulsions of acidic steels and, moreover, allows the well-known, highly desulphurising effect of calcium-silicon to be used.
