Abstract
Se proporciona un procedimiento para producir ácido acético mientras se separan de modo eficaz los compuestos reductores de permanganato (PRC) y el yoduro de metilo. Los PRC se separan o remueven de una composición mezclada (3A) que contiene los PRC y yoduro de metilo al destilar la composición mezclada en un paso de destilación (5) para formar una corriente de producto evaporado (5A), una corriente de extracción lateral (5B), y una corriente inferior (5C). En una columna de destilación del paso de destilación (5), se agrega un extractante (por ejemplo, agua) que extrae los PRC preferentemente al yoduro de metilo a una zona de concentración en la que se concentran los PRC y el yoduro de metilo, y se separa una mezcla de extracción que cae desde la zona de concentración como la corriente de extracción lateral (5B).
