Abstract
Método para descontaminar una superficie metálica en un reactor nuclear refrigerado y moderado con agua pesada, donde la superficie metálica está recubierta con uno o varios óxidos metálicos que incluyen radioisótopos, y donde la superficie metálica está en contacto con un refrigerador o moderador de agua pesada, el método comprende uno o más ciclos de tratamiento comprendiendo cada uno un paso de oxidación donde la superficie metálica se contacta con una solución de un oxidante en agua pesada; un paso de descontaminación donde la superficie metálica sometida al paso de oxidación se contacta con un reactivo de descontaminación en agua pesada para disolver el único o los varios óxidos metálicos y los radioisótopos en una solución de descontaminación e inmovilizando los radioisótopos en una resina de intercambio iónico; y un paso de descomposición donde el reactivo de descontaminación en la solución de descontaminación se descompone; y donde el oxidante, el reactivo de descontaminación y la resina de intercambio iónico se proporcionan en forma deuterada y/o están libres de hidrógeno activo. Un reactor nuclear de agua pesada está adaptado para realizar el método de descontaminación.
