Abstract
La presente descripcion se refiere a proteínas con dedos de zinc disenadas por ingeniería que se dirigen a genes en vegetales comprendidos en la biosíntesis de ácidos grasos. También se proveen métodos para utilizar estas proteínas con dedos de zinc en la modulacion de la expresion génica, la inactivacion de genes y la modificacion dirigida de genes. Reivindicacion 1: Una proteína con dedos de zinc que se produce en forma no natural que modula la expresion de al menos un gen vegetal endogeno, donde el al menos un gen vegetal participa en la biosíntesis de ácidos grasos y se selecciona del grupo que consta de un gen b-cetoacil-ACP sintetasa (KAS), un gen de tioesterasa de ácido graso B (FatB), un gen de sintasa de ácido graso (FAS), un gen de elongasa de ácido graso, un gen de tioesterasa de ácido graso A (FatA), un gen de deshidrogenasa G-3-P plastidial (GPDH), un gen de glicerocinasa (GK), un gen de desaturasa de la proteína portadora de estearoil-acilo (S-ACP-DES), y un gen de oleoil-ACP hidrolasa.
