Benzo (5,6)cicloheptapiridinas que están representadas por la formula estructural I o un N-oxidos de los mismos, o una sal o solvatofarmacéuticamente aceptable de los mismos, donde R y R2 son independientemente seleccionados entre halo; R1 yR 3 son independientemente seleccionado entre elgrupo que consiste en H y halo, siempre que por lo menos uno de R1 y R3 sea H; W representa N, CH, o C, cuando el enlace doble está presente en la posicionC-11,R4 es formula II; R5 es formula III, R6y R 7 son independientemente seleccionados entre el grupo que consiste en H, alquilo, alquilo sustituido,acilo,arilo,aralquilo, heterocicloalquilo y heteroarilo; X es = O o = S;Z1 y Z2 son independientemente =O o =S; n y n3 sonindependientemente 0,1 o 2;y n1 y n2son independientemente 0 o 1, composiciones farmacéuticas que las contienen, y el uso de dichos compuestos como inhibidores de la proteína farnesiltransferasa.
