As an undergraduate I studied a wide range of diverse issues from political philosophy to political development: this ranged from studying the works of Hobbes, Machiavelli, Plato, Cicero, Socrates to studying the making of Contemporary Europe (culturally, institutionally). Other areas of interest were, and remain, Italian Fascism (the rise and rule of Mussolini) & The Spanish Civil War (from the principle of non-intervention & the "high politics" to the impact the War had on refugees).
As a post-graduate I specialized on more complex and equally interesting issues such as today's rising geopolitical actors (BRICS, CELAC, ALBA) & other emerging economies (mainly in Latin America) - and what impact these developments will have on the future direction of the global political economy. My 15,000 word post-graduate dissertation was based on China's role as a global development actor & the impact this will have on "traditional" DAC/OECD structures of power globally as well as on development in the emerging nations of the Global South and, specifically, Latin America. Chinese involvement in Latin America as an engine of finance and development is one of the defining features of the 21st century, with huge geopolitical implications, and will be an issue of growing importance in the years to come.

This is a stakeholder position paper on the future of International Development Cooperation from the perspective of a non-DAC Donor (Brazil). Some questions I am interested in are: what motivates non-DAC donors such as Brazil? What interests do non-DAC donors like Brazil promote?
