The system of bunkers and warehouses near Babušnica, with large breastworks, was built for distinctly defensive purposes in the period from 1890-1893. It was built during the time of King Aleksandar Obrenović as part of an important defensive belt in the border area towards Bulgaria. It is very well preserved. It is a fortunate circumstance that the fortress “Šanac” was never used in war. The bunker complex made of hewn stone was built on the Jeremija hill above the villages of Donje Striževac and Donje Krnjino near Babušnica. It consists of 10 bunkers in a row with a central entrance gate that leads to the central part of the complex where they are located, 4 more independent bunkers/warehouses are individually arranged. This central part is reinforced with a double ring of earth trenches. On the front side, in front of a row of ten bunkers, a defensive stone wall was built, oriented towards Bela Palanka. The defense system around Pirot, better known as the “Pirot Fortified Camp” f...

During 2020, the Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments of Nis conducted extensive research in the part of the municipality of Dimitrovgrad in order to record buildings, sites or entities with monumental properties. On that occasion, among other things, a larger number of city villas was recorded. The paper presents three selected representative examples of this type of house. An architectural analysis of each of the observed buildings is presented, as well as ortho-photo attachments. The entire procedure of documenting the building is listed and explained, from field drawings, through the elaboration of documentation to the development of 3d models. One of the goals of the entire research procedure, in addition to preparing documentation for further legal protection of buildings, was to educate students in the field of protection of architectural heritage, on specific tasks.

The broader area of Vučje, Porеčje, near Leskovac, is distinguished by exceptional hydropower potential, with powerful and unpredictable mountain rivers such as Vučjanka, Nakrivanjska (Čukljenička), and Kozaračka (Rupska). These rivers have been harnessed since ancient times as a driving force for numerous small industrial buildings, shaping the entire way of life. Within the natural environment of Kukavica mountain and in direct connection with the Vučје River, a relatively compact аrea holds both natural and anthropogenic heritage. On the slopes of the Vučjanka River canyon, adorned with naturally carved "pools," lies the medieval settlement of Skobaljić Grad. Additionally, the area is home to the hydroelectric power plant "Vučje," established in 1903, featuring a water channel carved into the canyon's rocks. Furthermore, there are numerous water mills integrated with the canal system. Downstream, in
the heart of Vučje, near the historically significant location of Dilaver Beg's Tower, the ancient Pasha's watermill from the Ottoman period still stands. Slightly lower down, the industrial complex of Lazar Teokarović's Woolen Fabric Factory is situated. This complex encompasses factory facilities, residential and worker's quarters, and was constructed between 1933 and 1936. Expanding towards Leskovac, in the village of Strojkovce, the Museum of Textile Industry stands as a testament to the first rope-making factory founded in 1884. There's also a medieval monastery in Rudare, as well as a monastery complex featuring a monastery watermill dating back to 1786 in Čukljenik. All these mentioned heritage contribute to the overall value of the region.

a fortifi ed Roman settlement, established atthe end of 1stcentury, which lasted until emperor Justinian’s restoration in the VI century. It was situated on an important ancient road, via Naissus - Ratiaria and it represented a strategically important place. As a very important site, Ravna awakened the attention of experts and scientific community at the end of the XIX century, but as immovable cultural heritage -
archaeological site was not protected until 1979, after the first systematic archaeological excavations were initiated in 1975. Archaeological excavations were followed by serious conservation and restoration works, but these activities were suspended in 1986, which led to serious deterioration of architectural structures and irretrievable loss of parts of the cultural property.
After 30 years, during 2016, the Plan for detailed regulation of Archaeological and ethnological park “Ravna“ was made, which was the reason for the preparation of the Conservation Study of archaeological site “Ravna“ in order to record previous works, the current situation of the site and to give a proposal for future actions that would contribute to the site condition improvement.

The archaeological site of Caričin Grad, immovable cultural heritage of the major signifi cance in Republic of Serbia, is located in the south of Serbia, in the municipality of Lebane. The emergence of the Caričin Grad is related to the Byzantine Emperor IustinianI (527-565) and his disappearance from the historical stage during the reign of Emperor Heraclius (610-641) and the invasion of Slavs.
One of the major problems in preserving this archaeological site is the lack of conservation activity, or disproportion between the implementation of archaeological excavation on the one hand, and the site protection, conservation and presentation on the other. One of the goals of this paper is to draw attention to the poor state in which Caričin Grad currently is and the necessity to continue the conservation work. The goal of the paper is also to provide an overview of the conservation works, reconstruction and presentation of the Caričin Grad, from the beginning of the archeological research until today.

The Trade House is located in the city center of today’s modern Niš. It was probably built on the very beginning of the 20th century. The fi rst part of the paper gives basic overview about history and historic development of the city’s central core, basic urban settings of Niš, and also characteristics of architectural creativity in Niš during the construction of the building. In the following part of the paper, the building itself is historically and historiographically treated. A special overview refers to construction phases–the fi rst phase of construction: spatial organization, dimensions and manner of processing, then the second phase of construction: enlargement of the volume of the building, change of the way of processing, followed by a critical review and analysis of all previous interventions to the building. The paper further deals with the detailed analysis of structural building system, decorative fi nish, as well as the condition of the building and the proposed repair of the damaged parts. The fi nal part of the paper deals with the revitalization of one part of the building and the methodology for determining the appropriate purpose of the building. The main goal of revitalization is to include the building into modern streams and to highlight its importance.
