🐺 the monstrous feminine, but make it lycanthropic.

à la carrie and the exorcist, ginger snaps explores emergent female sexuality as monstrous.

conversely to both aforementioned 70s horror flicks, however, i believe ginger snaps has something to say about sisterhood as well.

here, the body is still a site of abjection, with the menstruating adolescent living on a liminal plane—a plane marked by the push and pull between the aversion caused by her blood and the desire caused by her…

🕊️ a dionysian event that stopped the clock for three days.

for many, woodstock served as an escape, a countercultural getaway. while for those three days, attendees didn’t have much contact from the outside world, it’s important to remember that nothing happens in a vacuum. music can be liberating, but also anchor on a lack of liberation. take hendrix’s rendition of the american national anthem; you can become transported by the sounds he’s creating, but they’re still grounded in reality,…

👑 stunning, eerie, tense, and isolating.

kristen’s performance was one of, if not the best, i've seen from her. from the first line she spoke she embodied diana’s character. like others have mentioned i’m not sure how accurate her portrayal was, but i loved every part of her performance down to the minute details.

the fantastic cinematography and score do a great job of transporting viewers into this odd, liminal space.

although the film takes place over the span of…
