  • The art is so pretty, the colors mesh very lovely together. The little nom animation was just so on point. I wish the little guy had some wiggle would help with the floaty motion feeling. The UI could use a little thicker line but other then that it's a very charming game. Bugs happen so there is no worry about that! The rune work was very good. I hope you keep working on this and flush out the way you have everything set up. Good luck!
  • Hey! I really enjoyed how simple the game is to grasp, and the art really stood out to me. Your color palette really sets the mood for the game and pairs well with your game mechanics and story. I can see how this could be a great puzzle/platformer game once it's fully fleshed out. My only complaint would have to do with providing information to the player. It took a while for me to actually figure out how to navigate the game, especially the run mixing. It might be good to incorporate things like a tutorial or some kind of in-game explanation/lore. I wish you all the best!

With a party of equally heroic fighters, magicians and healers they fought evil over and over again.
But even with as skilled comrades some pieces got lost.
Not to be healed or grown back.
And so after their last fight the hero faced a bleak future.
To help, the party conjured from the separated thumb a sliver of the heroes life connecting our world and the world of spirits. The sliver, bound to the hero by life force and spell now seeks out particles in the spirit world to help them regrow and make them whole again

Our two testers, chaos1990 and jackieflan, do not wish to join the pirate software discord as they help me with a bunch of jams and they don't like extra discord servers on their account.

This is a interesting and unique artistic game, I am having fun! The art and music are very nice, they really adds to the feel of the game. The flying controls are quite fun, and the creation of the conjuring circles themself is quite beautiful to look at.

And then there are some nitpicks I would like to address as well. Firstly, although the tree looks nice, it is really hard to fly through, and somehow some branches can be directly flown through. I am not sure if this is intentional or not, but if yes, then probably add some visual indicator that is can be done so. Secondly, the runes are quite difficult to see if they are in front of some light background, especially near the top of the screen. Maybe change the graphics a bit, or make it more substantial in the scene? Lastly it would be nice if I can undo runes by right clicks. Moving the mouse down and press there is kinda annoying.

But anyway, it was not a bad game by any means. Well done!

Developer

Thank you very much for this in dept review.

All of the problems you mentioned will be addressed in the updated version

I love the art and music! Seems like a cute idea, though sadly I couldn't figure out the rune mixing screen so I wasn't able to get very far. I tried clicking the body part and then clicking some runes, but there wasn't any feedback about selecting a body part, and then nothing to press after selecting runes it seemed?

I agree with other feedback about the movement being a bit too floaty (especially in the up-down direction for some reason) and the tree collision needing to be a bit more intuitive!

Let me know how I should be doing the rune mixing and I'll give it another go :)

rn it works like this:

Select a body part you want to get back

Add runes to the rune circle

The selected body part will go red when something wrong was added

Blue outline when something correct was added

Fully blue when you recovered the body part

There is not much feedback except when you recover all body parts. We didnt get to that part sry

(This will change in the next version. We'll add descriptions to the runes so you can infere which part needs how much of anything)

I think it may not be working correctly on Safari/Mac? When I click a body part and then click runes, there's no feedback whatsoever.

Developer

I've just tested it on safari mac and for me it works.
When you click a body part does the frame of it go brighter?
When you click the runes in the inventory does anything change? Like the number of runes in the display below the rune circle or the design in the rune circle?
Which version of Safari are you using?

Submitted (1 edit)

No, there's no feedback at all for the body parts.

The runs correctly move into the slots below the circle.

I'm on V17.5 of Safari and on MacOS Sonoma 14.5

Developer

just to be sure. You are clicking the empty body parts and not the filled ones?

Submitted

Ohhh no I am not! I thought I was clicking on like, the arm, because the sprite doesn't have an arm so it made sense to me that I'm selecting an arm to build them an arm? I'll try again. Think the UI could do with being a bit clearer for that as I think someone else had similar issues figuring it out!

Developer

Yeah the UI will definitely be updated but I think you actually found a bug

This is a cute game! The music is nice (just a bit too loud and the loud isn't perfect). The controls could be a bit smoother but it's manageable. The trees look great, but the collision on them is a bit random, you can go through it sometimes and sometimes you can't.

I read in the comments other people could upgrade the character, but I couldn't figure it out. Maybe a gameplay video could help so I could figure it out myself :p

I just ended up floating around and collecting stuff, which was kinda relaxing

Nice concept, the game is a chill "Craft your human" experience, I like the style and the color choice, the controls are fine but the thing is not really responsive, but still manageable. I would have liked to see it wiggle a little while moving. I think you can do that after a certain number of runes seated the thing becomes fat and slower so you know you have enough runes.

Anyway, the music is really cool and art is nice too. Good job!

Developer

Thank you I appreciate you taking the time for this. The wiggle is already on my update list as are lots of other things

I love the color palate and setting! I think this has a lot of potential but I was definitely unsure of what to do at first. I'd love some little wiggly animation on the character as you're flying around. Good start! ^^

Developer

thank you so much. I'm the artist and I appreciate the comment. There are definitely animations coming for Sliver. Can't wait to animate that lil blob

I'm glad I read the game description before I played!

Honestly when I started and moved around and saw the massive delay in the character movement to start/stop I was like "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO I HATE THIS" but actually it was totally fine, floating around the trees and eating runes was actually really chill.

I kinda zoned out at one point just going from tree to tree and totally forgot I was supposed to actually do something with all the runes I was eating haha.

I eventually stumbled my way down to a stump and started randomly clicking everything trying to figure out what to do. Eventually I noticed the limbs sometimes turned blue so I just kept adding stuff that kept them blue and it eventually worked! I made a human...? Who knows I apparently deleted my save.

It was a fun little experience I really liked the limited colour pallete and the art I wish there was an explanation on what to actually do in the game especially with the crafting but I managed to figure it out and I had a fun time doing it :)

Developer

Thank you so much. We will be working on this to make it easier to understand and a much deeper and chill gaming experience

I'm really intrigued by the premise of the game, I like the art and the parallax backgrounds! Well done :)

Very interesting concept! I like the design. Good job!

Developer(+1)

thank you so much.  The concept is pretty much all we've got running but more is to come

the movement is a little floaty for my taste, but i guess i am flying so it feels right. also i kept losing my runes as i didn’t catch onto the mixing table mechanic! the game is cute too :D!

Developer(+1)

Sry for that. There is a bug that has you loose the runes if you don't choose a limb first
