The present study was designed to investigate cytotoxic activity of methanol and petroleum ether extracts of the Aerva lanata. Both extracts were subjected to brine shrimp lethality bioassay for possible cytotoxicity where a concentration dependent increment in percent mortality of brine shrimp nauplii was produced by the extracts indicating the presence of cytotoxic principles in these extractives. The cytotoxicity of the extracts were found promising. The results of these studies suggest significant cytotoxicity of different extracts of Aerva lanata. The result that obtained from the Crude extract of the of Aerva lanata have strong cytotoxic activity.

The present study was designed to investigate antioxidant activity of methanolic and petroleum ether extracts of the Aerva lanata. In vitro antioxidant activities of the extracts were studied using DPPH radical scavenging, reducing power, total phenol and total flavonoid content determination assays. The antioxidant activities of the extracts were found promising. The results of these studies suggest significant antioxidant activities of different extracts of Aerva lanata. The result that obtained from the Crude extract of the of Aerva lanatahave moderate antioxidant activity. Keyword: Aerva lanata and Antioxidant

Medicinal plants are becoming more popular in the treatment of various diseases because of the adverse effects of the current therapy, especially antioxidant plant components such as phenols and flavonoids have a protective role against oxidative stress-induced degenerative diseases like diabetes. Thus, the purpose of this study was to investigate β-cell protection and antidiabetic activities of Crassocephalum crepidioides (Asteraceae) Benth. S. Moore. The in-vitro study was conducted by the pancreatic β-cell culture and α-amylase inhibition technique which includes two methods, namely starch-iodine method and 3,5-dinitrosalicylic acid (DNSA) method. On the other hand, the in-vivo study was performed by oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) method and alloxan-induced diabetes method by using Wistar albino rat. At the end pancreatic specimens were removed and processed for histopathological study. The plant extract showed significant (*p < 0.05, **p < 0.01) effect on hyperglycemia...
