Data were collected from 148 pre-service science teachers studying at a state university in Turkey who were chosen through the convenience sampling method. "STEM Awareness Scale (SAS)" developed by Buyruk and Korkmaz (2016) was employed as data collection tool, and the data were analyzed using IBM SPSS-21 statistical program. For data analysis, Mann-Whitney U-test, variance analysis (ANOVA) and Tukey significance test were used. No statistically significant difference in pre-service science teachers’ STEM awareness in terms of gender, academic achievement score, technology usage frequency, and family income level. While they significantly differ in their STEM awareness with regard to grade level.

identification in Wuhan, China, in December 2019. Countries have implemented emergency action plans in many areas to prevent the disease from spreading further. In order to reduce the spread of the disease throughout the country, there has been a transition to distance education in the Turkish education system. In this research, it is aimed to determine the views of biology teachers about distance education in COVID-19 Pandemic process. The research using phenomenological study was carried out with 62 biology teachers. Semistructured interview form prepared by the researchers was used to collect the data. The data were evaluated by using content analysis method. As a result of the research, it has been determined that distance education increases technology use, cooperation, empathy and positive thinking about lessons. However, it has been determined that there are problems arising from the lack of technologicalinfrastructure and knowledge. It has been understood that in order for the distance education systems to be applied in situations such as the COVID-19 pandemic, the technological infrastructure and the knowledge of the stakeholders should be improved.

Öğrencilerde kavram yanılgılarının oluşmaması için ders kitaplarında bilimsel içerik bakımından hataların yer almaması gerekmektedir. Bu araştırmada 2018-2019 eğitim öğretim yılı itibari ile değişen öğretim programına uygun olarak Millî Eğitim Bakanlığı tarafından beş sene süre ile 11. sınıf biyoloji dersinde okutulması onaylanmış ders kitabındaki biyoloji öğrenme alanına ait konuların bilimsel içerik açısından incelenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Veriler, doküman analizi yöntemi kullanılarak incelenmiştir. Araştırmada, insan fizyolojisi ile komünite ve popülasyon ekolojisi ünitelerinde yer alan konular incelenmiştir. Bulgular, ünite ve bölümlere göre gruplandırılarak verilmiştir. Araştırma sonucunda, insan fizyolojisi, komünite ve popülasyon ekolojisi üniteleri ve ünite değerlendirme sorularında bilimsel hataların olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Ayrıca tespit edilen bilimsel hatalara yönelik doğru bilgiler, uluslararası geçerliliği olan kaynaklardaki bilgiler ışığında verilmiştir. ABSTRACT Textbooks are the teaching materials used in the transfer of the subjects in the curriculum and teaching concepts to students in a planned way. In order to prevent misconceptions, scientific mistakes should not be included in textbooks. The aim of this study is to examine the topics in the 11th biology textbook, used for 2018-2019 academic year, approved by the Ministry of National Education of Turkey. Data were generated using the document analysis method. In the study, human physiology, community and population ecology units were examined. The results were grouped according to the units and chapters. As a result of the research, it was determined that there are scientific mistakes in human physiology, community and population ecology units and unit evaluation questions. In addition, the correct information for the identified scientific mistakes was given in the light of the information in internationally available sources.

Farklı okul türlerinde öğrenim görecek öğrencilerin seçimi, merkezi sınavlarla yapılmaktadır. Bu araştırmada, ortaokul öğretmenlerinin Türkiye’de yapılan merkezi sınavlara yönelik görüşlerinin çeşitli değişkenlere göre incelenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Araştırmada “tarama modeli” kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu, 2018-19 eğitim-öğretim yılında Türkiye’nin farklı illerinde görev yapan 152 ortaokul öğretmeni oluşturmaktadır. Öğretmenlerin merkezi sınavlara yönelik görüşleri cinsiyet, çalışılan kurum, eğitim düzeyi, kitap yazarlığı ve branş değişkenleri açısından incelenmiştir. Veriler “Merkezi Sınavlara Yönelik Görüşler Ölçeği” kullanılarak toplanmıştır. Ölçek, “Olumlu Görüşler” ve “Olumsuz Görüşler” olmak üzere iki alt faktör ve 12 sorudan oluşan beşli Likert tipindedir. Bu araştırmada, ölçeğe ait güvenirlik ”Cronbach’s alpha katsayısı (α=.86)” belirlenirken; ölçeği oluşturan “olumlu görüşler” alt faktörlerine ait Cronbach’s alpha katsayısı (α=.84) ve “olumsuz görüşler” Cronbach’s alpha katsayısı (α=.68) olarak belirlenmiştir. Araştırma bulguları, öğretmenlerin merkezi sınavlara yönelik görüşlerinin cinsiyet, eğitim düzeyi, kitap yazarlığı ve çalışılan kurum değişkenlerine göre istatistiksel olarak anlamlı farklılık göstermediğini ortaya koymaktadır. Ancak bu durumun tersine öğretmenlerin merkezi sınavlara yönelik görüşlerinde branş değişkenine göre istatistiksel olarak anlamlı farklılık olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Çalışma öğretmenlerin merkezi sınavlara yönelik görüşlerini etkileyen faktörlerin belirlenmesi bakımından alanyazına katkı sağlayacaktır.

school students about STEM activities. The case study, which is one of the
qualitative research designs, was conducted in the 2018-2019 academic year.
Research was carried out 16 4th grade students studying in in a private
school in Turkey. In the data collection, semi-structured interview forms
prepared by the researchers were used. The semi-structured opinion form
consists of five questions. The data obtained were analyzed by two different
researchers in accordance with the content analysis steps. The reliability of
the data was determined as 0.90. According to the findings of the research,
STEM activities are related to the problems of daily life and affect students'
courses, occupational preferences and communication skills. In addition,
shortage of time and materials and lack of information were found to have
problems in the realization of STEM activities. In line with the results of the
research, it is suggested that STEM activities should be included more in the
courses. In addition, the necessary time, material and information
infrastructure should be provided to the students in order to achieve the aim
of the activities

was designed as a case study, a qualitative perspective and conducted with 64 students from a private school during the 2017–2018 academic year. Three open-ended questions were posed in semi-structured
interviews and the students’ responses were analyzed using the content analysis technique. The results revealed that the students developed an awareness of natural habitats and the interaction among living things. The students proposed the protection of living things, protection and reproduction of habitats, transportation of living things to more suitable habitats, and protection of the natural balance, as solutions to the problems that might arise in natural habitats.

In this research, it was aimed to determine the preparedness levels of pre-service teachers for t... more In this research, it was aimed to determine the preparedness levels of pre-service teachers for teaching profession regarding various variables. The research using the survey model was conducted with 192 pre-service teachers studying in science and biology teacher education departments in the academic year of 2017-2018. The research focus on investigating variables of gender, choices of master science, grade level and mean of academic achievement on preparedness to teach of pre-service teachers’. Preparedness to Teach Scale was used as data collection. The scale is based on a 5-point Likert type consisting of 4 sub-factors and 20 questions, namely "Effective learning", "Teaching process design","Technopedagogical competence" and "Understanding of learning". The questions in question; 1=very insufficient, 5=very sufficient. In this study, the reliability of the scale was determined by Cronbach's alpha coefficient (α=.92), scale-forming effective learning (α=.83) designing the teaching process (α=.84), technopedagogical competence (α=.82) and learning comprehension (α=.64). It was determined that the level of pre-service teacher' preparedness to the teaching profession, the main science department in which they are studying, the willingness to come to the main science branch, the class level and the language grade average variables are statistically different. In terms of the gender variable, it was determined that there was no statistically significant difference in the level of preparedness of the pre-service teachers to the teaching profession. All of the sub-factors of the scale used in the study were determined as a variable that makes a meaningful difference in grade level.

The "Environmental Ethics Awareness Scale" developed by Özer and Keles (2016) was used in the research. The research is consisted of 237 people, including 130 science teachers and 107 biology teachers working in different school of Turkey. Independent t test, one way analysis of variance (anova), Kruskal-Wallis analysis and Tukey significance test were used to determine the statistical significance of the obtained data in the research using relational screening model. According to research findings; it is understood that education level, graduation achievement, on the tenure of office and the having environment lesson does not make a meaningful
difference for science teachers and biology teachers. However, gender and the institution that worked were significant differences (p<.05) in the environmental awareness of science teachers.

In this research, it was aimed to determine the nature relatedness of pre-service primary school ... more In this research, it was aimed to determine the nature relatedness of pre-service primary school and science teachers regarding various variables. "Nature Relatedness Scale (NRS)", developed by Nisbet, Zelenski and Murphy (2009) and adapted to Turkish and analyzed, terms of validity by Çakır, Kararslan , Şahin and Ertenpınar (2015), was used as data collection instrument. The research was carried out with 363 pre-service teachers in Kahramanmaraş Sütçü İmam University in the academic year of 2015-2016. The relational screening model was used in the research, in which and, statistical significance of the obtained data was determined through independent t test, one-way variance analysis Kruskal-Wallis analysis and Tukey meaningfulness tests. Research findings have indicated a; difference among the participants' nature relatedness in relation to gender, education, and grade level. However, no significant was difference found between having taken the environment lesson, membership to natural organizations, participation in natural activities nature relatedness of pre-service teachers.
