Giannino Malossi
Giannino Malossi is an independent Brand Consultant, Curator and Author working at the intersections of Fashion, Art, Media and Finance. Partner of Blumine Srl, winner, with Wearsustain Consortium, of €3М grant funded by the European Commission Horizon 2020 research and innovation initiative S+T+ARTS. Working as Art Director for Elio Fiorucci's Brand in Milan (Italy) 1976-1981, he started the Fiorucci DXing (1977-1981) a seminal, in-house Center for Research about Fashion Culture. Co-Founder with Carlo D'Amario of Casanova-Creativity in Troubles Times - a Strategic Consultancy Agency, with the scope of connecting emerging designers with funders and producers, and helped Vivienne Westwood in the early stage of inception (1982-1984).
Experimenting with innovative streams of practice and research on communication, he consulted for Pitti Immagine Fairs in Florence (1986-2000), Camera Naziona Moda Italiana in Milan (2001) and the Agenzia Moda in Rome (2001). In 2001 he was involved in the founding of Interaction Design Institute Ivrea and as Director of Communication and Professor of Communication and Knowledge Sharing, and later Contract at Politecnico di Milano, Metadesign Lab, Fashion Design Faculty (2002-2005).
His research ended in exhibitions and installations held, among others, at the Milan Triennale (1979; 2022), the Venice Biennale (1980), The Fashion Institute of Technology Museum (1997) and the Art Directors Club of New York (2001).
He published books in Italy and abroad, including, among others: Liberi Tutti, Fiorucci, Vent'anni di Moda Spettacolo (Mondadori, 1987); This was Tomorrow, Pop from Style to Revival (Electa, Milan 1990); The Style Engine: Spectacle, Identity, Design and Business. How the Fashion Industry Uses Style to Create Wealth (Monacelli Press, New York, 1998); Volare: The Icon of Italy in Global Pop Culture (Monacelli Press, New York, 1999); Material Man: Masculinity, Sexuality, Style (Abrams, New York, 2000).
Italian Editor of magazines i-D and The Manipulator (1984-1992).
