An overview of academic articles focused on information security management (ISM) in higher education institutions (HEIs) is presented. For this purpose, an empirical study was carried out. The articles found were then analyzed following a methodological procedure consisted of a systematic mapping study with their research questions, inclusion and exclusion criteria, selection of digital libraries, and analysis of the respective search strings. As a result, a set of information security management frameworks (ISMF) for HEIs were identified. They are based on standards such as ISO 27000, COBIT, ITIL, NIST and EDUCAUSE.

This paper aims to propose a novel toolkit to assess the 10 main vulnerabilities of WiFi networks, which have been identified by OWISAM methodology. In this context, controlled scenarios were deployed and the corresponding practical analysis were carried out. Identification of the attacks that can be implemented to verify each of the vulnerabilities in the Top 10, and the utilization of novel tools with details of the performed procedure are the main contributions of this paper, which represents a toolkit to perform a vulnerability analysis of wireless networks.

Diabetes is the primary pathological factor attributed to Alzheimer’s disease and vascular cognitive impairment. Previous studies demonstrated that hyperglycemia promoted oxidative stress in the cerebral vasculature. Cerebrovascular pericytes contribute to maintaining blood-brain barrier (BBB) integrity and regulating cerebral blood flow (CBF). However, whether hyperglycemia diminishes the contractile capability of pericytes, impairs CBF autoregulation and increases BBB permeability are unclear. In the present study, we examined the role of pericytes in cerebrovascular function and cognition in diabetes using cell culture in vitro , isolated penetrating arterioles ex vivo and CBF autoregulation in vivo . Reactive oxygen species were elevated in high glucose (HG, 30 mM) treated vs. normal glucose (NG, 5.5 mM) treated pericytes. The methodology combines the controls of the OWASP Mobile Security Project [1], Open Android Security Assessment Methodology [2], and good practices from the current state of the art. The proposed assessment is composed of the following stages: collection of information, logon and encryption, data transfer between dispositive, and development of android applications. Next, it is presented the practical approach of the assessment using a variety of tools for the vulnerability analysis. We recently reported that cerebral vascular dysfunction leads to impaired autoregulation of cerebral blood flow (CBF), neurovascular coupling (NVC), and blood-brain barrier (BBB) leakage. The present study examined if cerebral vascular dysfunction precedes cognitive impairment in the TgF344-AD (AD) rat model of Alzheimer's disease. In the present study, we confirmed that the AD rats develop learning and memory deficits beginning at 24-week of age using an eight-arm water maze. AD rats (n = 11) took a longer time to escape and displayed more errors than age-matched wildtype (WT) rats (n = 6). We also completed a longitudinal comparison of the myogenic response (MR) of the middle cerebral artery (MCA) and found that the MR was similar in AD and WT rats at 8- to 12-week of age when perfusion pressure was increased from 40 to 180 mmHg. However, the MR was significantly reduced in 16-week old AD rats (n = 6) as the inner diameter of the MCA only decreased by 8.2 ± 2.4% when perfusion...

ABSTRACTIn response to the COVID-19 pandemic, countries have implemented various strategies to reduce and slow the spread of the disease in the general population. For countries that have implemented restrictions on its population in a step-wise manner, monitoring of COVID-19 prevalence is of importance to guide decision on when to impose new, or when to abolish old, restrictions. We are here determining whether measures of odor intensity in a large sample can serve as one such measure. Online measures of how intense common household odors are perceived and symptoms of COVID-19 were collected from 2440 Swedes. Average odor intensity ratings were then compared to predicted COVID-19 population prevalence over time in the Swedish population and were found to closely track each other (r=-0.83). We previously reported a higher prevalence of nasal obstructive disorders (NOD) in pediatric patients with persistent allergic rhinitis (PER) not responding to medical treatment. The aim of this study was to determine the impact of NOD on quality of life (QoL) in this population. Real-life prospective study including 142 patients (41 children, 6-11 yo and 101 adolescents, 12-17 yo) with moderate and severe PER. After two months of medical treatment (intranasal steroids and antihistamines) patients were asked if their symptoms had improved (yes/no) and classified accordingly in R, responders and NR, non-responders. Nasal symptoms (Visual Analogue Scale, VAS), NOD (nasal endoscopy) and QoL (PRQLQ, AdolQRLQ) were also assessed. Sixty-nine adolescents and 24 children were included in the NR group. NR presented worse QoL overall scores in adolescents (3.16±1.1 vs. 1.63±0.99; p=0.00001) and children (2.19±0.82 vs. 1.51±0.77, p=0.02). Medical treatment failure was associated with worse outcomes in QoL (adolescents OR: 1.6, p<0.0001; children OR: 1.04, p=0.036). Female adolescents presented worse QoL scores than males (3.19 vs. 2.36, p=0.001). The presence of obstructive septal deviation (OR: 1.02, p=0.005), obstructive turbinate hyperplasia (OR: 1.03, p=0.0006) and coexistence of both (OR=2.06, p=0.001) was associated with worse QoL in adolescents. A strong and highly significant correlation was found between nasal symptoms VAS and QoL. The presence of NOD, particularly in adolescents, is associated with poor QoL outcomes. Assessment of NOD in pediatric PER should be considered an essential approach to determine the response to treatment and its impact on patient's QoL. This article is protected by copyright.
